What causes yellow leucorrhea?

Leucorrhea is a secretion from the female body, and observing the leucorrhea can also determine the health of the body. Yellow and clumpy leucorrhea is also a common gynecological disease. This may be a manifestation of inflammation in the body. Cervicitis or vaginitis in women can easily cause yellow leucorrhea. Not paying attention to hygiene in daily sexual life can also easily lead to some gynecological diseases.

Abnormal leucorrhea refers to an increase in the amount of vaginal discharge in women. Sometimes increased vaginal discharge is a normal physiological phenomenon. If increased vaginal discharge is accompanied by multiple symptoms, you should be alert to the occurrence of gynecological diseases. It is mostly divided into physiological leucorrhea increase and pathological leucorrhea increase.

Causes of yellow vaginal discharge

1. Trichomonas vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellow-green or yellow with an odor, thin and foamy, or like rice water, grayish white in color, which is mostly caused by vaginal trichomoniasis.

2. Chronic cervicitis: The leucorrhea is yellow and has an odor or becomes milky white and purulent, often accompanied by abdominal pain. It is usually caused by chronic cervicitis or endometritis.

3. Fungal vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellowish-white, most of the time it is sticky, sometimes it can be thin, typically milky white, like bean dregs, or like curd-like white flakes or lumps, most of which are caused by fungal infection.

4. Bacterial vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellow, bloody, serous or viscous, sometimes mixed with small rotten meat-like substances. It is mostly caused by infection with amoeba.

5. Fallopian tube cancer: When suffering from fallopian tube cancer, due to the tumor stimulating the fallopian tube epithelium to exude fluid and the diseased tissue to necrosis, the leucorrhea is mostly intermittent, clear, yellow-red liquid, flowing out in bursts continuously.

Causes

1. Physiological

In healthy women, the increase in vaginal discharge is directly proportional to the increase in estrogen levels in the body. For example, increased vaginal discharge may occur during ovulation or pregnancy, when the endometrium grows too long, or after the use of estrogen drugs.

2. Pathological

Vaginitis, chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, uterine effusion or foreign body in the vagina, uterine fibroids, genital herpes, gonorrhea, condyloma acuminatum, uterine prolapse, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

Clinical manifestations

Pathological leucorrhea may indicate different diseases through changes in amount, color, shape and taste.

1. Purulent leucorrhea

The color is yellow or yellow-green, mucus or foamy, and has a foul odor. It is mostly caused by vaginal inflammation, among which Trichomonas vaginitis is the most common, and is often accompanied by vulvar itching. It can be seen in chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, mesometrial effusion or foreign body in the vagina.

2. Cheese-like or tofu-like leucorrhea

Most of them are typical phenomena of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching.

3. Bloody leucorrhea, leucorrhea mixed with blood

Be alert to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. However, benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, submucosal myoma, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urethral caruncle, senile vaginitis, etc. can also cause bloody leucorrhea. A small amount of bloody leucorrhea caused by intrauterine contraceptive device is also common.
