Postpartum right lower abdominal pain

Postpartum lower abdominal pain on the right side is most likely caused by the contraction of the uterus. This is a normal physiological phenomenon and will recover automatically after a period of time. In addition, catching a cold after childbirth can also cause lower abdominal pain, because poor blood circulation and bad mood can lead to liver depression and qi stagnation, which can cause lower abdominal pain on the right side. Therefore, it is recommended that mothers should avoid wind and cold during the confinement period to avoid postpartum diseases.

There are many reasons for postpartum abdominal pain, such as uterine contraction. When it hurts, you will feel a hard lump when you touch your lower abdomen. That is the contraction of the uterus. This situation does not require treatment and will usually disappear about five days after delivery. Another reason is abdominal pain caused by cold after delivery. This pain can usually improve after hot compress. Bad mood can also lead to liver depression and qi stagnation, poor blood flow, and blood stasis, which can cause abdominal pain. If you only have pain in the right lower abdomen, you may have retained fetal membranes, adnexitis, ectopic pregnancy, right kidney stones, or problems with the colon.

1. Adnexitis is the main cause of abdominal pain after childbirth. Most mothers suffer from it because of incomplete anti-inflammatory treatment after childbirth or unhygienic vulva leading to ascending bacterial infection. Therefore, you must pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. It may also be caused by residual fetal membranes. This pain will also be accompanied by symptoms of continuous vaginal bleeding.

2. The pain caused by right kidney stones is mostly severe low back pain. If the pain is caused by ureteral stones, there will be symptoms such as difficulty urinating, and occasionally there will be symptoms of hematuria. Percussion pain in the kidney area is a convenient way to detect kidney stones. Ask your family to put one hand on the kidney area and use the other hand to make a fist and knock. If it is a kidney stone, you will feel pain.

3. The most noteworthy point is ectopic pregnancy. Right-side fallopian tube pregnancy may also cause pain in the right lower abdomen. This pain is dull pain at first, and some patients have a small amount of vaginal bleeding. As the fertilized egg grows bigger, the pain will become more and more severe, and eventually it will rupture and cause heavy bleeding, which will be life-threatening.
