How many times do pregnant women usually have prenatal examinations?

Pregnant women will go through various prenatal examinations from the beginning of pregnancy. Now that medicine is becoming more and more developed, people are paying more attention to eugenics. Generally speaking, three stages of examinations are required throughout the pregnancy, and these three stages are divided into multiple examinations, the main ones are in the early pregnancy, mid-pregnancy and late pregnancy. Pregnant women must attach importance to the importance of prenatal examinations, which is an important measure to ensure the good development of the fetus.

How many times do pregnant women usually have prenatal examinations?

According to the different characteristics of changes in each stage of pregnancy, we divide the entire pregnancy process into three stages: early pregnancy (within 12 weeks), mid-pregnancy (13-27 weeks), and late pregnancy (28-40 weeks).

1. Early pregnancy: After the pregnancy is confirmed, go to the relevant obstetrics and gynecology institution (usually a community hospital or maternal and child health care hospital) within 12 weeks of amenorrhea to create a "Maternal and Child Health Handbook" and have the first prenatal check-up. There is an NT test at 11-13 weeks of pregnancy.

2. Mid-pregnancy: Antenatal check-up every four weeks, for a total of four times (16, 20, 24, and 28 weeks).

3. Late pregnancy: From 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy, check once every two weeks, for a total of 3 times (30, 32, and 34 weeks); after 36 weeks of pregnancy, check once a week, for a total of 5 times (36, 37, 38, 39, and 40 weeks).

Under normal circumstances, a woman will have 12-13 prenatal checkups during her entire pregnancy. If the pregnant mother has other diseases, or has obvious adverse reactions and symptoms during pregnancy, the number of prenatal examinations will increase and need to be performed according to the doctor's advice.

Importance of prenatal check-up

1. Prenatal examination can detect the condition of the fetus

Regular prenatal checkups can continuously observe and understand the growth and development of the fetus at each stage, such as the fetus's height and weight, and whether it is developing normally in the uterus.

2. Prenatal examination can detect the condition of the expectant mother

Regular prenatal check-ups can not only help understand the physical changes of expectant mothers at different stages, but also promptly detect common comorbidities and complications of expectant mothers, such as early symptoms of gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, anemia and other diseases, so that they can receive timely treatment.

3. Prenatal check-up to prepare for a smooth delivery

Generally speaking, after the doctor has understood the physical condition of the expectant mother and the condition of the fetus through a series of prenatal examinations, he will give reasonable suggestions on the method of delivery.

From this we can see how important prenatal check-ups are! Following the doctor's instructions and doing every prenatal check-up well plays a vital role for the fetus and the pregnant mother herself, and also serves as the best preparation for delivery. Therefore, pregnant mothers, do not think that every prenatal check-up is dispensable, and do not ignore prenatal check-ups because you think they are too troublesome. Only by doing a good prenatal checkup can you be the most responsible person for yourself and your baby!
