Basal body temperature measurement

This is the simplest and easiest method. Measure your body temperature in bed every morning after waking up. The temperature at this time is called basal body temperature. Generally, the body temperature is below 36.5 degrees before ovulation. After ovulation, the progesterone level rises and acts on the body temperature center, causing the body temperature to rise by 0.3-0.5 degrees. If the egg cannot be fertilized, progesterone levels will drop after about a week and the body temperature will return to normal; if pregnancy has occurred, progesterone levels will remain high, keeping the body temperature high as well. If the high temperature curve phenomenon in the basal body temperature persists for more than 18 days, early pregnancy can generally be confirmed.

Pregnancy test

A pregnancy test is the earliest diagnosis of pregnancy. When the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus, a new hormone called chorionic gonadotropin is produced in the pregnant woman's body, which helps maintain the pregnancy. This hormone can be detected in urine about 10 days after conception.

The early pregnancy test strips usually used by women are also called the "gold standard urine HCG early pregnancy test". Currently, most hospitals also use this method to check whether women are pregnant. Its accuracy can reach more than 95%. Since it is a qualitative method, it only gives positive or negative results, but cannot give an accurate numerical value. Therefore, quantitative detection of serum HCG is used instead for diagnosing other diseases.

At the same time, the tester may take a random urine test, which may result in a false negative result in early pregnancy. In addition, some hormones with the same or similar fragments as HCG may combine with the antibodies on the urine test strip and cause a false positive. Such as luteinizing hormone (LH), certain prostaglandins, and certain hormonal contraceptives.

Check time

At 20-24 weeks of pregnancy, it can be determined whether the pregnancy is single or multiple, and the development of the fetus can be measured.

Second time

During 24-28 weeks of pregnancy. The purpose at this time is to have a further understanding of the fetal position, etc., for systematic B-ultrasound for prenatal screening.

The third time

After 37 weeks of pregnancy, the purpose is to determine the fetal position, fetal size, amniotic fluid conditions, whether the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck, etc., and to conduct a final assessment before delivery to determine the mode of delivery.
