How to push during childbirth

Many pregnant women will read various books about pregnancy during their pregnancy. Some pregnant women who are about to give birth will also read books about things to pay attention to during delivery, so that the delivery can go more smoothly. Some women are very sensitive to pain and are very resistant to giving birth. In fact, it is very easy to give birth if the right force is used during the childbirth process. Let’s learn how to push during childbirth~

1. How should you push when giving birth?

(I) Different ways of applying force in different postures

Lie on your back: Spread your legs fully, bend your knees, bring your heels as close to your buttocks as possible, raise your hands back, and grab the railings at the head of the bed or the handles on both sides. First, take a full breath, then exhale through your nose while stopping breathing. After a few seconds, slowly and gradually exert force while closing your lips tightly until no air can leak out. It takes about 25 seconds from inhaling, exerting force to completing exhaling.

Side-lying: Bend your elbows slightly underneath your body and place your palms next to your face. Put your feet together, bend your knees as much as possible, and hold your thighs above your body near your hips with your hands. You can also hold the baby with both hands, but when lying on your side, the hands under the body will easily get tired. The head should not be bent too low, nor should the back be arched to the point where the eyes can see the navel. First, inhale fully into your chest, then, as in the supine position, pause for a few seconds before exerting force.

(II) What are the consequences of using the wrong force during childbirth?

1. Exerting force too early will hinder the opening of the cervix

If you apply force when the cervix is not fully open, the entrance of the uterus will swell due to pressure, and the cervix will be too narrow.

2. Causes perineal bleeding

The fetal head will come out very slowly. If you push when you feel strong contractions, the perineum will become soft and extend forward. The perineum will split when the fetal head comes out, which may cause serious perineal laceration. The pain will continue for a long time after delivery, making the pregnant mother feel very uncomfortable.

3. The baby is compressed by the birth canal

The fetus will be under pressure during labor. When the cervix is not fully open, if the mother pushes too hard, it will compress the birth canal and the fetus will be in great pain. Therefore, applying abdominal pressure when the cervix has not fully opened will increase the burden on the uterus and the fetus will not get enough oxygen and nutrition.

When giving birth, physical strength is indispensable, but mental strength is also unavoidable. The above article has given a comprehensive answer to how to use force, including breathing frequency, etc. Only by using strength correctly and in the right place can you give birth to a baby smoothly. Naturally, young mothers will be much more relaxed. In the future recovery process, mothers will recover faster, and the baby will naturally grow up more healthily.
