Two lines on the pregnancy test stick means pregnancy

Generally speaking, if there are two lines on the pregnancy test stick, it means you are pregnant. However, everyone knows that pregnancy test sticks sometimes have errors and it does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. If you want to confirm whether you are pregnant, you can go to the hospital for a blood test. The blood test can accurately determine whether you are pregnant and generally there will be no errors. If you are confirmed to be pregnant, you need to pay more attention to preserving the fetus in the first three months.

Does two lines on the pregnancy test mean that you are pregnant?

Generally speaking, if two lines appear on the pregnancy test stick, that is, both the control line and the test line are colored, and the test line of the pregnancy test stick is obvious and clear, it means that the woman is pregnant. If the control line is clear and the test line is very light, it means you may be pregnant. Please use a new pregnancy test stick to collect morning urine and retest every 2 days. But sometimes even if the pregnancy test stick shows two lines, it does not mean that you are pregnant. A false positive result in an early pregnancy test is related to the quality of the pregnancy test stick, the duration of use, and the user's own situation. It may also be positive in pituitary disease, hyperthyroidism, ovarian cysts, endometrial hyperplasia, and uterine cancer. A small number of gynecological patients undergoing treatment may also experience false positives due to endocrine disorders or medication.

1. If the time is too early, the pregnancy test stick will be inaccurate

HCG usually appears in the urine a few days after the fertilized egg implants, and it must reach a certain amount to be detected. Therefore, for women with normal menstruation, HCG can only be detected in the urine after the menstruation is delayed. For women with long menstrual cycles or abnormal ovulation, HCG can only be detected 40-44 days after the menstruation stops.

2. Doing the test in the morning and evening may have an impact

This is why the instructions for many pregnancy test sticks recommend testing in the morning, because the HCG value is generally the highest in morning urine, and the test results will be relatively accurate.

3. A positive result does not necessarily mean a normal pregnancy

If a woman has an ectopic pregnancy, there is a 60% positive rate in the pregnancy test, so a positive result alone cannot reveal whether it is a normal intrauterine pregnancy or an ectopic pregnancy. It is extremely unsafe for a woman to have a medical abortion based on a positive result on a pregnancy test.

4. A positive pregnancy test does not necessarily mean conception

Many women with pituitary disease, hyperthyroidism, ovarian cysts, endometrial hyperplasia, and uterine cancer will also test positive when using pregnancy tests. There are also a small number of menopausal women in the early stages of menopause or gynecological patients undergoing treatment who may experience false positives due to endocrine disorders or medication.

5. The degree of urine dilution is related

If women drink too much water before the test, their urine will be diluted, which may lead to a false negative result. Also, if they do not pay attention to the length of the test paper immersed in urine during the test, the test result will be difficult to judge.

How to use a pregnancy test stick

1. Tear open the aluminum foil bag along the notch before use and take out the pregnancy test stick;

2. Put on the disposable plastic film gloves included in the box, hold one end of the handle of the pregnancy test stick tightly with your thumb, and tilt the end of the urine suction hole downward. Note that the observation side of the pregnancy test stick should face downward, and the plum blossom pattern direction should face upward;

3. Aim at the urine-absorbing hole on the side of the pregnancy test stick and urinate, allowing the urine to pass through the urine-absorbing hole, and maintain the urine collection time for 1 to 2 seconds (please note that urine should not wet the observation window when collecting urine! Otherwise, the pregnancy test stick will become invalid);

4. Then turn the pregnancy test stick over so that the observation window is facing upwards, and continue to hold the pregnancy test stick at an angle. When you see purple-red liquid crawling across the observation window, purple-red lines will appear on the observation window within 1 minute. The pregnancy result can be read after 1 minute, and the non-pregnancy result must be confirmed after 3 minutes. The result read after 5 minutes is invalid!

5. Urine samples at any time are suitable for pregnancy test sticks. If you are in early pregnancy, morning urine is best.
