I have a dull pain in my lower abdomen after a cervical biopsy.

A cervical biopsy is a biopsy of the cervix. When the cervix is suspected to have disease, a piece or several pieces of tissue are taken from the cervix with a puncture biopsy forceps, usually four points (3, 6, 9, and 12), or tissue from a confirmed disease site is sent for pathological examination to confirm the characteristics of the cervical disease. Let’s take a look at what is going on when you have a dull pain in your lower abdomen after a cervical puncture biopsy.

If you continue to have abdominal pain after cervical surgery, it is possible that the vaginal nerves were damaged during the surgery, or there was a gynecological infection. If the vaginal bleeding is not excessive, there is no need to take special measures. Observe for a period of time, because the damaged area needs some time to repair. You should not have sex recently and do not exercise excessively.

There is a dull pain in the lower abdomen behind the cervix. Common reasons include:

1. During cervical puncture biopsy, a speculum is used to expose the cervix. The speculum is used for a relatively long time, causing vaginal mucosal hematoma and reflexive lower abdominal pain.

2. When taking cervical puncture biopsy, the vaginal nerve reflex is damaged, causing lower abdominal pain. You can observe it and it will recover slowly.

3. Because the cervical tissue is removed, the cervix is irritated, and the resulting uterine contractions can also cause lower abdominal pain.

4. After the cervical puncture biopsy, there is bleeding or exudate from the wound. Failure to pay attention to the hygiene of the private parts has caused infection. Reverse infection has caused endometritis, adnexitis, etc., and there has been a dull pain in the lower abdomen.

Therefore, after taking a cervical puncture biopsy, antibiotics are given orally to prevent infection, the vulva is kept clean, and the vulva is washed with warm water every day. There is no need to have sex or exercise excessively recently.

In more serious cases, it may cause hematoma or edema in the cervix or pelvis, resulting in lower abdominal distension and discomfort. This condition requires antibiotic treatment based on the type of inflammation.
