What causes lower back pain before menstruation?

Girls are attacked by menstruation every month. Many girls will experience discomfort symptoms a few days before menstruation. Low back pain is the most common symptom. You will have no mind to work and feel very uncomfortable. During this period, you must pay attention to your diet and daily life. During menstruation, you can participate in some light physical exercise, but do not do strenuous exercise. So, what is the cause of lower back pain during menstruation?

1. Why do I have lower back pain before my period?

The reason why women have menstruation is actually because there is no fertilization after ovulation, which causes the endometrium to fall off in preparation for conception. In order for the endometrium to shed, the muscles associated with the uterus need to contract, which can cause radiating pain when they compress the surrounding blood vessels.

In addition, in order to allow menstrual blood to be discharged smoothly, women will secrete a certain amount of prostaglandins from a few days before menstruation to during menstruation. If prostaglandins are secreted too much, it will cause spasm of the uterine smooth muscle, which will radiate to the waist and cause waist pain.

It is recommended not to beat your waist at this time, otherwise it may aggravate the pelvic congestion, which will not only be unhelpful for the low back pain, but may also cause a prolonged menstrual period.

2. What other symptoms occur before menstruation?

1. Mood swings: Affected by changes in hormone levels in the body, most women experience mood swings before menstruation, become easily irritable, and their sleep quality is affected, and they may even quarrel with others at any time.

2. Breast pain: Female breasts are more sensitive to changes in estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, before menstruation, the mammary ducts of women will expand and become congested, leading to breast pain. The situation will be more serious for women with breast cancer.

3. Lower abdominal distension, diarrhea, etc.: Due to the effects of prostaglandins and pelvic edema and congestion, many women will experience pelvic distension or lumbar pain before menstruation. It usually appears one week before menstruation and further accumulates 2-3 days before menstruation, but disappears after the end of menstruation.

4. Edema: Some women will experience bilateral calf or ankle swelling before menstruation, which will lead to a corresponding increase in weight. However, this edema generally does not cause pain or affect walking.

5. Other discomforts: Some women may experience other discomforts before menstruation, such as acne, joint pain, headache, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, etc., which are collectively referred to as premenstrual syndrome. Generally speaking, they are related to changes in estrogen and progesterone levels.
