Can uterine fibroids replenish qi and blood?

Uterine fibroids are a relatively common gynecological disease. Generally, there are many causes of uterine fibroids. Most of them are caused by technical disorders. If the uterine fibroids are relatively large, you must actively treat them to avoid affecting your health. If the fibroids are not particularly large, you generally do not need to treat them first and have regular check-ups. Uterine fibroids can only replenish blood and qi to make the body healthier.

5 typical symptoms of uterine fibroids

(1) Uterine bleeding is the most common symptom of uterine fibroids, occurring in more than half of patients. Among them, cyclical bleeding is the most common, which can manifest as increased menstrual volume, prolonged menstrual period or shortened cycle. It may also present as irregular vaginal bleeding that is not related to the menstrual cycle. Uterine bleeding is more common with submucosal fibroids and intramural fibroids, while subserosal fibroids rarely cause uterine bleeding.

(2) Abdominal masses and compression symptoms When the fibroids gradually grow and cause the uterus to enlarge to more than the size of a 3-month pregnant uterus or become a large subserosal fibroid located at the fundus of the uterus, a mass can often be felt in the abdomen, which is more obvious in the early morning when the bladder is full. The mass was solid, movable, and non-tender. When the fibroids grow to a certain size, they can cause compression symptoms of surrounding organs. Fibroids on the anterior wall of the uterus close to the bladder can cause frequent urination and urgency; giant cervical fibroids compressing the bladder can cause difficulty in urination or even urinary retention; fibroids on the posterior wall of the uterus, especially those in the isthmus or posterior lip of the cervix, can compress the rectum, causing difficulty in defecation and discomfort after defecation; giant broad ligament fibroids can compress the ureter and even cause hydronephrosis.

(3) Irregular menstruation, increased leucorrhea, dysmenorrhea, etc. The amount of blood lost by women during menstruation is less than 80 ml and lasts for 3 to 7 days. The amount of sanitary napkins used in each cycle generally does not exceed 2 packs (10 pieces). If 3 packs are not enough each time and the sanitary napkins are almost soaked, it is considered menorrhagia. Endometrial bleeding is the main symptom of uterine fibroids, which manifests as periodic increase in menstrual bleeding, sometimes accompanied by increased leucorrhea, lower abdominal distension, dysmenorrhea, etc.

(4) Infertility. Among patients with uterine fibroids, a small number may suffer from infertility. The reason is that the fibroids cause the uterus to deform, making it difficult for the fertilized egg to implant.

(5) Pain. Most patients with uterine fibroids do not feel pain, but a small number of them may experience lower abdominal pain after the fibroids become infected or the uterus becomes deformed.

Dietary considerations for uterine fibroids

1. For patients with uterine fibroids, the first thing to note is that they cannot eat spicy, alcoholic and frozen foods. Since spicy food can stimulate the endocrine system and may cause endocrine disharmony, patients with uterine fibroids should avoid eating hot pot or spicy food.

2. Lamb, shrimp, crab, eel, salted fish, black fish, etc. In winter, everyone likes to eat some mutton to warm the body. But it is not suitable for patients with uterine fibroids. These meats contain more fat, and obese women are more likely to suffer from uterine fibroids. In addition, patients with uterine fibroids should also avoid eating seafood, as these seafood contain relatively high levels of hormones, which may cause uterine fibroids to develop more severely. If you want to supplement meat, you can eat lean pork, chicken, etc. instead.
