What is the normal progesterone level at 8 weeks?

Different changes will occur in the body at different periods after pregnancy, especially the changes in progesterone after pregnancy are very important and have always been the focus of many women. There are different progesterone manifestations in the eight-week pregnancy, the middle or late pregnancy stages. Let us take a look at the relevant introduction below.

How to read progesterone data

1. The average progesterone level in normal pregnant women is 25ng/ml (80.3nmol/L). Many studies have shown that decreased progesterone levels in pregnant women can lead to threatened abortion and inevitable abortion (i.e. inevitable abortion, which usually develops from threatened abortion, but with more vaginal bleeding, more severe paroxysmal abdominal pain, or vaginal discharge), and exogenous progesterone supplementation is needed to maintain early pregnancy. Studies have found that a progesterone value ≥ 25ng/ml is normal, and a progesterone value between 15 and 25ng/ml indicates luteal insufficiency, which requires progesterone treatment with a higher success rate. If the progesterone value is ≤15ng/ml, treatment is of little significance and the pregnancy should be terminated as soon as possible.

2. In the early stages of pregnancy, the progesterone level should continue to rise. If you compare two progesterone test results and find that the progesterone level has dropped compared to the previous one, it is very likely that there is an ectopic pregnancy or a problem with the embryo development, and further examination is needed. It is medically recognized that patients with ectopic pregnancy have low blood progesterone levels, so the progesterone value can be used as one of the bases for early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. If it is difficult to confirm based on hCG alone, the judgment can be assisted by observing the blood progesterone value. The β-hCG value of a normal intrauterine early pregnancy should increase significantly from the 9th to the 11th day, and then double every day. However, the hCG secretion of an ectopic pregnancy is low, and the daily increase is smaller.

3. The progesterone level increases significantly during the 9th to 32nd week of pregnancy, reaching 10 to 100 times that of normal people. The level in twin pregnancies is higher than that in single pregnancies. If the progesterone level in early pregnancy is lower than normal and continues to decrease, miscarriage or embryonic arrest may occur, and the fetus will need to be preserved.

4. When you receive the progesterone data check sheet, you can compare it with the "normal values of progesterone in different periods". For example, the progesterone value on the test report is 88.21±23.7nmol/L. After comparison, it can be inferred that the expectant mother is about 8 weeks pregnant.
