Cervical glandular cyst is also called cervical Nabothian cyst. Cervical Nabothian cyst (also known as "Nabothian cyst") is a common manifestation of chronic cervicitis, just like cervical erosion and cervical cyst. During the healing process of cervical erosion, the neonatal squamous epithelium covers the cervical gland ducts or extends into the glands, blocking the gland ducts; the connective tissue hyperplasia or scarring around the glands compresses the glands, causing the gland ducts to shrink or even become blocked, and the drainage of glandular secretions is blocked. The cyst formed by the accumulation is called a cervical nabothian cyst. Cervical cysts are inflammations, not tumors. Under long-term inflammatory stimulation, a small number of patients with chronic cervicitis have a tendency to worsen and require high attention. Causes of cervical cysts 1. Irritation from long-term inflammation Due to long-term inflammation and stimulation, tissues repeatedly produce hematoma, edema, inflammatory cell infiltration and connective tissue hyperplasia, leading to cervical hypertrophy. 2. Cervical fibrosis process After the inflammation is cured, the hematoma and edema are relieved or disappeared, and due to the fibrosis process, the cervix is completely covered with squamous epithelium, with a smooth surface and thickened volume; the cervical glandular cyst also still maintains its prominent cystic shape. 3. Cervical glands are squeezed and shaped When the gland is squeezed and shaped by the surrounding tissue, the gland opening is blocked, so that the secretions in the gland duct cannot flow out and are retained inside, causing the gland cavity to expand and produce cystic masses of varying sizes, which are called cervical gland retention cysts. The mucus contained in it is often clear and transparent, but it may be turbid and purulent due to combined infection. Clinical symptoms of cervical cyst Cervical cysts generally have no symptoms and are usually discovered during a gynecological examination. Examination revealed that there were several bluish-white vesicles of varying sizes protruding from the surface of the cervix, which contained mucus. The small ones were as big as millet grains, the large ones were as big as corn, and some were very large, protruding from the surface of the cervix and even reaching the vulva. The roots were connected to the cervix by a pedicle, and cervical hypertrophy was often present. When cervicitis occurs, the specific manifestation is excessive vaginal discharge. Because the pathogens are different, the color, amount, and characteristics of the vaginal discharge are also different. The discharge may be thick and purulent, and may contain blood or a small amount of blood in rare cases, and irregular bleeding may occur in rare cases. Cervical cyst treatment Cervical glandular cysts are common in clinical practice, with no discomfort and symptoms, and generally no treatment is required; if accompanied by inflammation, medication or physical therapy is given. Very large cervical cysts are rare and can be treated surgically. |
