What causes irregular menstruation and nose bleeding?

Menstruation, commonly known as "period", is a sign of maturity of female reproductive organs. Women usually have their menstrual period once a month, which lasts 3 to 7 days. Many women may experience menstrual irregularities during menstruation, and women must pay attention to this at this time. Many women experience irregular menstruation and nosebleeds during their menstruation. So, what causes nosebleeds due to irregular menstruation?

When women have nosebleeds during menstruation, it is retrograde menstruation. The reason for retrograde menstruation is that there is an area with rich and fragile blood vessels in the front and lower part of the nasal septum, which is more sensitive to estrogen. This hormone increases in the body of girls during menstruation. Stimulated by the increased estrogen, the nasal mucosa will experience blood vessel hyperplasia, swelling and congestion in this area, and finally rupture and bleeding.

In clinical practice, nosebleeds before menstruation are actually very common, and this phenomenon is often clinically referred to as "compensatory menstruation" or "retrograde menstruation". People who experience nosebleeds before menstruation often find that they have regular nosebleeds before or during menstruation, and in severe cases, they may find that their menstrual blood volume decreases after the nosebleed. In very rare cases, nosebleeds occur at regular intervals without menstruation, resulting in irregular and disordered menstruation. If you fail to understand the cause of nosebleeds before menstruation in time, you will not only panic because of the menstrual nosebleeds, but you may also experience amenorrhea and other phenomena due to menstrual disorders.

This kind of compensatory menstrual period often occurs with the simultaneous presence of menstruation and nosebleeds, or only periodic nosebleeds without menstruation. Some people think of checking the ENT department first when they have nose bleeding, but in fact no abnormalities will be found, and most of the time they need to consult a gynecologist to get a solution.

If a woman's nosebleeds during menstruation are not severe, and she is in good health, she may not need treatment. However, if the symptoms are severe or the situation is special, timely treatment is required. It is recommended to consult an expert in advance.
