Is it possible to get pregnant if the endometrium is only 5mm?

There are two relatively important reproductive organs in the female body. The first one is the ovary, whose main function is to produce eggs, and the other reproductive organ is the uterus. Compared with the former, the uterus is more important. Because the health of the uterus directly affects whether you can have children. Some women find that their endometrium is only five millimeters during physical examinations. Can they still get pregnant?

Thin endometrium means that under the influence of certain estrogen, the endometrium cannot reach 8 mm during ultrasound. These factors may result in the egg not being able to implant properly, thus preventing conception from occurring as planned. If estrogen cannot reach a certain level, an ultrasound at this time will find that the thickness of the endometrium is less than 8 mm. This cannot be used to diagnose thin endometrium, but only means that the cause is insufficient estrogen. Ultrasound is usually done in the middle of the menstrual cycle to verify that the follicles are mature, for example, 8 mm in diameter and the endometrium is less than 8 mm, and the estrogen level is checked at the same time. Some patients have a thin endometrium due to poor recovery from artificial abortion.

Therefore, what tests patients need to do and when to do hormone level tests can only be determined after a preliminary examination in the hospital. If the thin endometrium is caused by estrogen deficiency, you can go to the hospital's gynecology department for a blood test, and then thicken the endometrium by supplementing estrogen. If it is due to other reasons, Chinese medicine conditioning and medication are needed.

The thickness of the endometrium is related to the cyclical changes of the endometrium. The cyclical changes of the endometrium include histological changes and biochemical changes of the endometrium. The normal thickness of the endometrium and the histological changes of the endometrium are affected. How thick is the normal endometrium? The normal thickness of the endometrium can be 1-10mm depending on the cycle. The functional layer of the endometrium is the site where the embryo implants. It is regulated by changes in ovarian hormones and has periodic proliferation, secretion and shedding changes, as well as specific histological changes.

What does endometrial thickening mean?

1. Thin endometrium due to kidney deficiency

It is more common in women who have not conceived. Generally, the menarche occurs late or the menstrual flow is too small, secondary sexual characteristics appear late, and estrogen secretion is insufficient after menstruation. Common symptoms include short menstrual period, small menstrual volume, light red menstrual blood, as well as dizziness, tinnitus, back pain, weak legs, and heel pain.

2. Thin endometrium due to blood deficiency

It is more common in women between 30 and 40 years old, and is mostly caused by spleen deficiency, poor appetite, malnutrition, excessive weight loss, excessive fatigue, long-term illness and other reasons. In this case, the thin endometrium can easily lead to amenorrhea and cause endometrial proliferative disorders. Common symptoms include scanty menstrual flow, light-colored menstrual blood, which stops within one to two days or stops with just a few drops of fluid. Symptoms may also include dull pain in the lower abdomen, dizziness, palpitations, sallow complexion, pale nails, pale lips and tongue, and dry skin.

3. Thin endometrium due to blood stasis

It is more common in women who have incomplete discharge of lochia after childbirth or have a history of gynecological surgery or abortion. Due to the surgery, blood stasis is retained in the uterus, causing adhesion of the endometrium and poor blood circulation, resulting in scanty menstruation, purple-black menstrual blood with clots, and stabbing pain in the lower abdomen.
