How to get pregnant with twins

Now that our country has opened up the two-child policy, some couples think that instead of having a second child later, it would be better to have two at once, that is, twins. However, not everyone can conceive twins. There is a certain probability, and this probability is still quite low nowadays. So why do some people get pregnant with twins? This is still related to many factors.

1. Find a spouse with twin genes

Generally speaking, women only release one egg each month. If two eggs are released at once and fertilized at the same time, the chances of having twins increase. If a woman is already pregnant with twins, her chance of giving birth to twins is as high as 1.7%, much higher than that of a man.

2. Take folic acid

A Swedish medical research institute pointed out that women who take folic acid have nearly twice the chance of conceiving twins than women who do not take it. Folic acid supplements may increase the frequency of ovulation, allowing multiple eggs to enter the uterus and thus produce twins.

3. Ovulation-inducing drugs

By taking ovulation-inducing drugs, women can release multiple eggs every month, greatly increasing the chances of having twins. Ovulation-stimulating drugs have adverse reactions such as dizziness, nausea, and liver and kidney damage, and should be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

4. Increase hormones

The main effect of hormone drugs is to stimulate the anterior pituitary gland to secrete gonadotropin, thereby inducing ovulation.

What are fraternal twins

Twin pregnancy is the simultaneous pregnancy of two fetuses. Among them, if the two fertilized eggs are formed by the splitting of the same egg, they are called "identical twins", accounting for about 1/3 of all twins; twins developed from two different eggs are called "fraternal twins", accounting for about 2/3.

Identical twins occur when a fertilized egg splits into two embryos in the early stages of development, while fraternal twins occur when two eggs are released from the mother's ovaries at the same time and are fertilized separately. Fraternal twins are related to family heredity, race, advanced age of pregnancy, and number of births.

Generally speaking, women will only release one egg each time they ovulate under normal circumstances. Fraternal twins are caused by certain conditions. The mother releases two eggs in one ovulation cycle. The two fertilized eggs formed by the two eggs are fertilized separately and later develop into two fetuses separately. The two eggs can be released from the same mature follicle, or from two mature follicles in the same ovary, or from two mature follicles in both ovaries.

Since the eggs that form twins are released separately by the mother during the same cycle and carry slightly different genetic information, the two fertilized eggs of fraternal twins are different. The two fetuses have their own genetic genes, and the sex and blood type of the fetuses may be the same.
