What to do if you have constipation during the second month of pregnancy

The fetus obtains nutrition from the mother. Many women will experience a series of changes in their bodies after pregnancy, including physical, physiological, and psychological changes. The symptoms that pregnant women experience are different in each stage of pregnancy. Pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy may experience vomiting, while women in the middle and late stages of pregnancy may experience constipation symptoms. Some pregnant women experience constipation symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy. What should they do if they experience constipation in the second month of pregnancy?

1. What to do if you are constipated during more than 2 months of pregnancy

The main symptoms of constipation in pregnant women include less urge to defecate and fewer bowel movements; difficult and laborious defecation; uncomfortable defecation; dry and hard stools and a feeling of incomplete defecation; constipation accompanied by abdominal pain or discomfort. Some patients with constipation also have mental and psychological disorders such as insomnia, irritability, nightmares, depression, and anxiety. So, what should I do if I am constipated during more than 2 months of pregnancy?

1. Stay hydrated

Constipation is usually caused by lack of water, which results in small, hard stools that cannot pass smoothly out of the body. Pregnant mothers must replenish adequate water in time. The general water intake is 2 to 3 liters per day. Please choose high-quality water, either purified water or mineral water. To avoid a cold stomach, drink warm water.

2. Eat foods rich in dietary fiber

Phytofiber can soften and decompose stool, promote intestinal peristalsis, and can effectively prevent diseases such as colorectal cancer, diabetes, obesity, and constipation. Dietary fiber is mainly found in foods such as fruits and vegetables, beans, whole grains and fungi, but the intake of dietary fiber should not be too much. Too much dietary fiber can cause discomfort such as intestinal bloating, frequent bowel movements, and can also easily hinder the absorption of some essential trace elements. The daily ratio of vegetables, fruits to grains and legumes should be 5:6.
