Is it normal to have abdominal pain during 4 months of pregnancy?

When a pregnant woman is four months pregnant, the fetus in her body is basically stable. At this time, pregnant women can already do some exercise appropriately, but some pregnant women will experience abdominal pain. When abdominal pain occurs, pregnant women will feel particularly scared because it is likely to lead to threatened abortion, so it is better to be careful. So, is it normal for pregnant women to have abdominal pain in four months?

Four months of pregnancy means entering the second trimester, and the placenta is implanted stably, which generally does not cause severe pain.

1. Abdominal pain in the fourth month of pregnancy caused by uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids may grow during pregnancy, and the impacts on pregnancy include fibroid degeneration and necrosis, fibroid torsion, and direct interference with fetal development or obstruction of delivery. This type of pain usually comes suddenly, and the pain point is fixed, which is local pain.

2. Abdominal pain in the fourth month of pregnancy caused by ovarian tumor. Most ovarian tumors in early pregnancy are benign, but malignant tumors also exist. If an ovarian tumor is discovered during pregnancy, you must seek medical attention as soon as possible if you experience colic, abdominal discomfort, abnormal abdominal distension, ascites, etc.

3. Some diseases during pregnancy may also cause abdominal pain in expectant mothers, but these diseases are not directly related to pregnancy, such as appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, cholelithiasis and cholecystitis. Because abdominal pain is common during pregnancy, sometimes abdominal pain caused by non-pregnancy reasons is easily ignored by expectant mothers.

If you have stomach pain in the fourth month of pregnancy, for the safety of your baby, it is best for expectant mothers to do the following types of prenatal examinations:

1. Measure uterine height and abdominal circumference: These are items that expectant mothers must measure every time they have a prenatal checkup.

2. Routine urine test: This test can rule out diseases such as gestational hypertension.

3. Edema check: Pregnant mothers will have varying degrees of edema, but if there is obvious depression when pressing the lower limbs, and the edema does not subside after rest, you should measure your blood pressure immediately to prevent pregnancy-induced hypertension.

4. Down syndrome screening: It can detect whether the fetus has birth defects, such as Down syndrome, anencephaly or other chromosomal abnormalities. This method is more reliable and less damaging.

5. Listen to the fetal heartbeat: Hearing the fetal heartbeat means that the baby in the belly is alive. The doctor will only prescribe a series of test orders after hearing the fetal heartbeat.
