How to self-check uterine recovery

How to self-check uterine recovery

We all know that women need some time to repair their uterus after giving birth, especially for some women who have had caesarean sections. They need more time to repair their uterus. No matter which method of delivery is used, it will cause certain damage to the uterus. Therefore, women must protect their uterus during the confinement period. So how can you check the recovery of the uterus yourself?

1. The role of the uterus

1. The uterus has reproductive function: This function is very important and it is a necessary condition for the continuation of human beings.

2. The uterus has menstrual function: Healthy women will have menstruation once a month, which can eliminate toxins from the body.

3. The uterus has the function of regulating endocrine: The female uterus actually secretes many hormones to regulate the body's endocrine.

4. The uterus has immune function.

2. Changes in the uterus during pregnancy

The volume of the uterus before pregnancy is only about 4 to 7 ml. As the baby continues to grow, the uterus also becomes larger and the uterine wall becomes thinner, until the baby is born, when the uterus has expanded to about 1,000 times its original size. Therefore, the changes in the uterus are still very large.

3. The harm of the uterus not recovering well

It may cause gynecological diseases such as uterine fibroids. After a period of recovery after delivery, the uterus will return to its original size, but there will be many wrinkles. If the endometrium is not eliminated cleanly, it will become garbage hidden in the wrinkles. Over time, it is very likely to cause uterine fibroids, cysts, endometritis and other gynecological diseases.

4. Self-examination of uterine recovery

1. You can judge by the descent of the uterine fundus. The uterus will contract immediately after the baby comes out. At this time, you can feel a very hard and spherical uterine body with your hand. Its highest point is at the same height as the navel. Then it will shrink at a rate of 1 to 2 cm per day. After 10 to 14 days, you can no longer feel the uterine fundus in the abdomen.

2. Observe the changes in lochia. The lochia discharged in 2 to 3 days is basically blood, red in color and large in amount. After 3 to 10 days, the amount of bleeding will decrease and the color will be lighter, brown. After 10 days, there is almost no blood, the amount becomes less, and it is yellow. White is rare over three weeks old. We can observe the amount of uterine residue and whether there is infection by observing the changes in lochia.
