Buttock pain during early pregnancy

Buttock pain during early pregnancy

Expectant mothers will always experience various physical changes during pregnancy. These physical changes are not just nausea and vomiting, but also buttock pain. Buttock pain is caused by endocrine disorders during pregnancy, coupled with long-term sitting compressing the nerves, which can lead to this symptom. As long as it is properly adjusted, it will slowly recover.

Where exactly does this butt hurt?

Expectant mothers will experience various pregnancy reactions throughout the pregnancy, such as vomiting, drowsiness, edema of hands and feet, loss of appetite, and back pain. But there is a kind of pain that is difficult for expectant mothers to talk about, and that is bone pain.

Nowadays, many expectant mothers insist on going to work during pregnancy, but after sitting for a long time, their buttocks will hurt and they will be unable to sit still. This is actually coccyx pain during pregnancy, which often occurs in the early stages of pregnancy. Expectant mothers will describe it in various ways: "Coccyx pain", "Coccyx sacrum pain", "Pain in the tip of the buttocks", "Can't sit still, the protruding bone in the buttocks hurts"

The human pelvis is composed of the sacrum, coccyx and two hip bones (including ilium, pubis and ischium). The coccyx is located below the sacrum, the last part of the spine and the last bone of the spine.

At the back of the pelvis, the ear-shaped articular surfaces of the hip bones on both sides are connected to the articular surfaces of the sacrum on both sides, forming the sacroiliac joints. In the front, the left and right pubic bones embrace each other to form the front half of the pelvis. The two pubic bones are connected by a fibrous cartilage plate to form the pubic symphysis, which is surrounded by tough ligaments for protection, making the two pubic bones tightly combined together with a very small cavity that is not easy to move.

So, do expectant mothers understand? Which bone hurts?

Causes of coccyx pain in early and mid-pregnancy:

1. The first thing to consider is the long-term fatigue and soreness caused by sitting for a long time in expectant mothers. Pregnant mothers are prone to fatigue. Some may experience fatigue in their buttocks, which may be related to their sitting and walking postures. Among them, insisting on working, especially working in a sitting position for a long time, is more likely to cause coccyx pain.

2. During pregnancy, the ovaries of expectant mothers will secrete a substance called relaxin, which gradually increases as the pregnancy progresses. Relaxin can loosen the joints, and as the baby grows in the belly, the abdominal pressure increases, causing coccyx pain.

3. In the early stages of pregnancy, expectant mothers will find that their coccyx hurts a lot. Especially before going to bed at night, sometimes I can't move at all. The reason is that there are many blood vessels around the human coccyx. After pregnancy, the blood vessels in the body may expand, blood circulation may be poor, and pain around the coccyx may occur.

4. The enlarged uterus compresses the nerves. The enlarged uterus during pregnancy compresses the sciatic nerve or surrounding tissues, causing pain. And as your belly gets bigger and you gain weight, it may become more uncomfortable.

5. Sacrococcygeal pain caused by calcium deficiency.

[Warm Tips] Generally, coccyx pain during pregnancy does not require treatment. It is a normal phenomenon during pregnancy and is a preparation for the expectant mother to ensure the smooth delivery of the fetus' head during future delivery. Once the baby is born, the pain will naturally go away as the level of relaxin decreases.

If the expectant mother experiences severe pain, in addition to resting, she also needs to go to the hospital in time for appropriate treatment.
