What causes dizziness in early pregnancy?

When a woman becomes pregnant after marriage, her husband is always the happiest person. However, pregnant women should always be alert to physical changes. Once they feel unwell, they should be diagnosed in time to avoid affecting the normal development of the fetus. Some pregnant women will feel dizzy in the early stages of pregnancy, which makes husbands very worried. So let's take a look at what causes dizziness in the early stages of pregnancy?

First, why do people feel dizzy in early pregnancy? Low blood pressure and cerebral ischemia may cause pregnant women to faint when they stand up suddenly or take the elevator. In the early and middle stages of pregnancy, due to the formation of the placenta, blood pressure drops to a certain extent, generally 1.33-2.67 kPa lower than usual, which is physiological. For pregnant women with pre-existing hypertension, the drop in blood pressure will be even greater. When blood pressure drops, blood flow to the brain will decrease, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, which in turn causes dizziness.

Second, eating too little and having low blood sugar. Such pregnant women sometimes suffer from dizziness, accompanied by palpitations, fatigue, and cold sweats, which usually occur when they eat less. During pregnancy, I ate less because of the pregnancy reaction - vomiting. Eating less will cause low blood sugar. Blood sugar is the raw material for muscle cells and brain cells to produce energy. When blood sugar is low, cell energy is reduced, leading to fatigue, dizziness, cold sweats, palpitations and other discomforts.

Third, there will be many physiological reactions during pregnancy that first-time pregnant mothers will feel unfamiliar with , such as fatigue, dizziness, etc., especially the latter one. Many mothers will have this experience. Physiological dizziness of pregnant women can be improved by lying down for a while, because in the middle of pregnancy, due to the decrease in blood supply to the brain, the brain is deprived of oxygen and causes dizziness. This symptom is more obvious in the early to middle pregnancy, so pregnant mothers should not be too nervous.

Why do women feel dizzy in the early stages of pregnancy? It is due to improper body position and compression of blood vessels. Such pregnant women usually experience dizziness when lying on their backs or sitting on the sofa watching TV, but not when lying on their sides or standing. This type of dizziness in pregnant women is a condition called supine syndrome. In the late stages of pregnancy, as the uterus enlarges, the heavy uterus presses on the inferior vena cava behind it when the woman lies on her back or sits down, preventing blood from returning to the heart from the lower half of the body. The amount of blood returning to the heart decreases sharply, and the cardiac output decreases, leading to a decrease in blood supply to the heart and brain, causing discomfort such as dizziness and chest tightness.
