How to differentiate bilateral incomplete breast involution?

Women's breasts are very sensitive areas. As women age, the endocrine system in their bodies will continue to decrease, which will cause many tissues to decline. For example, older women's breasts will degenerate. When they go to the hospital for a check-up, they will find that bilateral breast degeneration is incomplete. So, excluding age factors, what is the cause of this result?

Differential diagnosis of bilateral breast involution:

Differential diagnosis of incomplete breast involution:

1. Polymastia: A small number of women have an abnormal phenomenon of excess breasts that have not degenerated or have incomplete degeneration, which is also known as polymastia, aberrant breasts, and extra breasts. Can occur unilaterally or bilaterally. Common sites are the armpits, and can also be seen on the chest wall, abdomen, groin, outer thighs, and occasionally on the cheeks, ears, neck, upper limbs, shoulders, buttocks, and vulva.

2. Degenerate breast: During the lactation period, the mammary gland secretes milk 2-3 days after delivery. At this time, the mammary gland lobes are highly proliferative and hypertrophic, the alveolar epithelium is arranged in a single row, which is filled with milk, the fibrous tissue around the milk ducts almost disappears, replaced by capillaries, the alveoli and milk ducts are generally dilated, storing milk and cell exfoliation. In the later stages of lactation, breast changes vary depending on the situation of weaning. If you do not breastfeed after giving birth, the pressure in the milk ducts will gradually increase, causing the ducts to expand and compress the duct walls and mammary lobules. After a few days, the above mammary gland structure will rapidly undergo degenerative changes. This change is so rapid and extensive that after the breast recovers, its volume is smaller than before pregnancy. This is involutional breast.

examine

Mammography, breast x-ray.

Some elderly people have incomplete breast degeneration due to the weakened estrogen inactivation function of the liver or abnormal secretion of sex hormones, which makes them prone to various cystic lesions, fat accumulation, etc. Breast cancer tends to occur in areas where breast fat or fibrous tissue has increased significantly and breast tissue has obviously degenerated and atrophied.

Mitigation methods:

Breast involution is a disease that occurs after the age of 40. It must be treated with care and regular check-ups to prevent malignant changes.
