What are the types of eye plastic surgery?

As the saying goes: There are no ugly women, only lazy women. With the continuous advancement of medical technology, there are some plastic surgery hospitals that can improve your appearance and make you more beautiful, and eye plastic surgery is one of them. Eye plastic surgery can widen the canthus of the eyes, remove myopia, and remove glasses. You can also perform liposuction around the eyes to make them more lifted, firmer and less saggy. Let’s talk about the specific types below.

1. Eye plastic surgery includes cosmetic surgery of the upper and lower eyelids, eyebrows and other parts. Eye plastic surgery occupies an important position in the entire discipline of facial plastic surgery and plays a finishing touch to a person's appearance. Clinically, the patients are of all ages, such as children with congenital ptosis, strabismus, small palpebral fissures, eyelid coloboma and various congenital malformations who need elective surgery depending on the condition; adults need double blepharoplasty, strabismus correction, ptosis correction, orbital reconstruction, artificial eye installation, as well as various traumatic deformities and eye plastic surgery after tumor removal.

2. Symmetry of the eyes

There is one eye on each side, with strict symmetry. If a surgery is satisfactory for the operated eye but it may cause the two eyes to lose symmetry, then this surgery should not be performed and another surgery that can take into account the symmetry of the two eyes should be chosen. For example, when doing blepharoplasty, ptosis correction, epicanthus correction, blepharoplasty, or even intraorbital artificial orbital implantation on one eye, the current condition of the companion eye must be taken into consideration, and efforts must be made to ensure symmetry with the companion eye.

3. Extremely thin skin

The eyelid skin, especially the upper eyelid skin, is the thinnest skin on the whole body, about 0.3mm thick, with loose and minimal subcutaneous tissue. This feature enables the eyelid to move, ensuring that it can close and open at will. When repairing eyelid skin defects with free skin grafts, the donor area must be carefully selected so that its skin thickness and color are similar to those of the eyelid skin. Generally speaking, small skin grafts can be obtained from the contralateral upper eyelid or retroauricular area, and larger skin grafts can be obtained from the subclavian or medial upper arm area.

4. Unique eyelid margin

The eyelid margin plays an important role in ocular morphology and function. The eyelid margin must be flat, stable and full of tension. Any protrusions or notches, thickening or thinning, widening or narrowing, outward rotation or inward rotation in any part of the eyelid margin will affect the appearance and movement of the eyelid. During the operation, it is necessary to ensure that the 4mm tarsal plate-conjunctiva at the eyelid margin is smooth and firm, without any scar traction or looseness and sunkenness.
