Breasts did not grow during pregnancy

After pregnancy, various pregnancy reactions follow, typical of which are nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, and enlarged breasts. However, some pregnant women encounter the situation that their breasts do not grow larger during pregnancy. In fact, pregnancy reactions are divided into stages. The reason why the breasts do not grow larger may be that they have just become pregnant. As the pregnancy progresses, you will gradually feel the breasts swelling.

Do breasts continue to grow during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, the increase in estrogen and progesterone promotes the proliferation and development of mammary alveoli and lobules, causing the breasts to gradually become larger.

In the early stages of pregnancy, you will initially feel breast swelling and even some pain. Occasionally, squeezing the nipples will produce sticky, yellowish colostrum. The breasts will then gradually swell and become very soft, and due to the hypertrophy of the mammary glands, lumps will grow on the breasts.

In the second half of pregnancy, the breasts will continue to swell, varicose veins will continue to appear just beneath the breast epidermis, the nipples will darken in color, and milk may begin to be produced in the breasts, so the nipples will secrete a small amount of white milk.

There will be no new changes in the breasts during the late pregnancy, but as the breasts grow larger during the mid-pregnancy, the swelling will become more severe.

How to take care of your breasts during pregnancy

1. Choose a suitable bra. After pregnancy, the breasts become sensitive to stimulation under the influence of hormones in the body and often experience discomfort such as tenderness and swelling. Choosing a suitable bra at this time can effectively relieve these symptoms, support the breasts and prevent changes in breast shape.

2. Breast cleaning. Cleaning the breasts not only keeps the milk ducts open, but also helps increase the toughness of the nipples and reduce the occurrence of complications such as nipple fissures during lactation. During the colostrum appearance stage, colostrum tends to form scabs on the nipples, which should be softened with ointment first and then removed with warm water.

3. Apply oil and massage at appropriate times. After washing your breasts, apply a small amount of olive oil to your nipples and gently rotate them with your index finger and thumb for 30 seconds. Breast massage for pregnant women can effectively relieve pain and also help dredge the mammary glands.

Under normal circumstances, from pregnancy to delivery, a woman's breast size may increase by more than 15-20 cm due to the influence of progesterone. Therefore, it is necessary to change underwear in time according to the changes in the breasts during pregnancy, and to do a good job of breast care and maintenance. This will help promote lactation and allow breastfeeding to the baby after delivery. I hope this will be helpful.
