Why do girls wet the bed? Enuresis is the culprit

It is normal for children to wet the bed, but if the child is still busy at night after the age of five, it is very likely a disease, so parents must pay attention to it. Why do girls wet the bed? It is very likely caused by enuresis, and there are many causes of this disease. They are introduced one by one below so that symptomatic treatment can be achieved.

Enuresis refers to involuntary urination at night (with or without daytime) in children after the age of 5. Normal children around 1 year old can control their urination during the day, but they still cannot avoid bedwetting at night. According to a survey, about 10%-20% of bedwetters are still bedwetters at the age of 4.5 years old, about 5% at the age of 9.5 years old, and 2% at the age of 15 years old. The male to female ratio is 3:1.

Causes

1. Genetic factors: Some children have a family history. According to foreign reports, 30%-50% of the children's parents have a history of enuresis on one or both sides, and it is found that the incidence of simultaneous enuresis in monozygotic twins is higher than that in dizygotic twins. There are similar reports in China, suggesting that this disease is related to genetics.

2. Studies have found that children with incomplete development of the nervous system have a smaller bladder capacity (less than 1/3) and poor bladder muscle control over urination. The child's sleep is too deep, the central nervous system inhibition process is dominant, the stimulation when the bladder is full cannot excite the central nervous system, and the child is difficult to wake up. Children with enuresis often have abnormal EEG findings, the most common of which are abnormal slow waves. A small number of children with enuresis have low IQs, which also indicates that they have imperfect neurological development.

3. Psychosocial factors

(1) Severe mental stimulation such as accidental disasters, family breakdown, death of relatives, deprivation of maternal love, loss of care from relatives, changes in living environment can cause children to be anxious and panic, and excessive mental stress can cause enuresis. Many children's symptoms worsen after school exams, strenuous exercise, or overwork. Some children suffer from enuresis due to parent-child conflicts, revengeful desires, or the desire to gain parental attention. According to the survey, more than 1/3 of the children have psychological factors.

(2) Personality and behavioral characteristics: This disease is prone to occur in children who are timid, docile, passive, withdrawn, emotionally unstable, overly sensitive and easily excitable. In addition, long-term enuresis makes people ashamed to see people and live alone, which eventually leads to inferiority complex and introverted personality, lack of confidence in doing things, and retreating behavior.

(3) Bad parenting attitudes during toilet training: parents are too strict (dislike children's urination and defecation, strictly set rules for children's defecation times) or too accommodating (ignoring toilet training), which results in children being unable to urinate independently. Or the child may lose love and affection, be abused, beaten or punished, especially if he or she occasionally wets the bed and is scolded by family members, or is warned not to wet the bed before going to bed. This can increase the psychological burden, act as a suggestion and aggravate the phenomenon of bedwetting.

(4) Other risk factors include the cold winter weather, insufficient warmth, contraction of skin blood vessels, reduced insensible water loss, drinking more at dinner or eating porridge and increased urination.
