Stomach pain during early pregnancy

Stomach pain during early pregnancy

Women will experience many physical discomforts after their first pregnancy. Most of these discomforts are normal reactions to pregnancy, but some individual cases may indicate abnormalities in the body. For example, some women will experience stomach pain when they hold their urine in the early stages of pregnancy. At this time, they will be very worried, afraid that something is wrong with their body and whether it will affect the baby in their belly.

1. Will holding urine cause stomach pain in early pregnancy?

Abdominal pain in early pregnancy may be due to the growing uterus, which is not a serious problem. Women often report symptoms such as sourness, warmth, and upper abdominal pressure, which are the result of stomach pressure caused by the enlarged uterus. In addition, gastrointestinal motility weakens during pregnancy, the stomach muscle tension is low, especially the gastric sphincter is relaxed, causing the gastric contents to flow back into the lower esophagus, irritating the esophageal mucosa and producing a burning sensation in the stomach area.

It is also possible that due to the enlargement of the uterus and pelvic congestion, the ligaments beside the uterus are affected by the enlarged uterus, causing a feeling of soreness and dull pain in the lower abdomen, especially near the roots of the thighs on both sides, which is near the groin. Abdominal pain in the early stages of pregnancy is generally not serious and does not affect the normal development of the pregnancy. If there is a history of cervicitis and chronic appendicitis, the irritation of the pelvic congestion symptoms on the inflamed area will also cause such discomfort.

2. What to do if you have stomach pain due to holding urine in early pregnancy

Check whether it is an ectopic pregnancy: If you have abdominal pain in the early stages of pregnancy and there is bleeding before the fetus is located, and if the pregnancy lasts more than seven weeks and the embryonic sac in the uterus cannot be seen through B-ultrasound, it may be an ectopic pregnancy. Further examination and confirmation are needed to avoid heavy bleeding and life-threatening consequences caused by ectopic pregnancy.

Treatment of miscarriage: Abdominal pain in the early stages of pregnancy accompanied by abnormal vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain and other symptoms may be signs of miscarriage. The cause of miscarriage in early pregnancy may be chromosomal or genetic abnormalities in the embryo itself; it may also be that the pregnant mother suffers from autoimmune diseases such as diabetes, or takes certain medications, smokes, drinks, etc.

3. Precautions in early pregnancy

1. Healthy pregnant women can work and labor as usual, but should avoid strenuous exercise and heavy physical labor.

2. Take a bath and change clothes frequently. Generally, pregnant women should not take a bath for more than 15 minutes each time. Showering is recommended, and the water temperature should not be too high, as too high water temperature will kill the brain cells of the fetus.

3. Pregnant women should not smoke and should also avoid living in a smoky environment, as this will affect the development of the fetus and cause miscarriage, deformity, etc.

4. Pregnant women should maintain a good mood, and husbands in particular should be caring and considerate of their wives and avoid emotional excitement. An unhappy mood will have an adverse effect on the brain development of the fetus.

5. In addition to normal work, you should ensure 8-10 hours of sleep every day.

6. Use common skin care products, avoid wearing lipstick or nail polish, and avoid perming or dyeing your hair.

7. Pregnant women should have a good living environment, the room should be clean and ventilated, and the temperature should be between 20-22℃.
