What changes have occurred in the breasts during pregnancy?

Pregnant women will experience various changes in their bodies, such as an enlarged belly, increased appetite, etc. The breasts will also change at this time. Some people often feel that their breasts are suddenly swollen. In fact, this is because there is milk in the breasts. Some people also find that their breasts have become larger, etc. Anyway, there are many symptoms, but there are still many people who don’t know about its changes. So, what changes occur in the breasts when you just get pregnant?

1. Breast pain: Breasts are the granary for the baby after birth. Therefore, throughout pregnancy, the development of the breasts changes along with the development of the baby in order to adapt to the needs of breastfeeding after delivery. From the moment the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, hormones in the female body begin to change. Among them, one of the most obvious signs is breast sensitivity and pain. This is due to the increase in hormone levels in the expectant mother's body. This distending pain is very similar to what women feel before their period, but it is more intense. This symptom will improve significantly after you are 3 months pregnant, by which time your body will have adapted to the hormonal changes during pregnancy.

2. Darkening of the areola: After pregnancy, a woman's breasts become larger and her areola also becomes larger and darker. This is because under the stimulation of sex hormones, prolactin and progesterone, the mammary glands begin to proliferate, and the areola enlarges due to the increase in sebaceous glands and pigmentation. Throughout pregnancy, the color of the areola will become darker and continue until after pregnancy. The size of the areola also varies from person to person.

We should face this change with a normal attitude. After the breastfeeding period, the areola will become smaller and lighter, but it may not return to its original appearance.

3. Breast enlargement: Enlargement of breasts is the most obvious visible change for all women after pregnancy. Under the effect of progesterone, the breasts of expectant mothers will gradually swell in order to ensure sufficient milk for the baby in the future. During the 3rd to 4th month of pregnancy, the breasts will grow faster, slow down in the second trimester, and increase in size in the third trimester. As for how big the breasts can grow during pregnancy, it depends on each pregnant mother. The breast changes of some pregnant women are not very obvious, while the breast growth of some pregnant women can even reach three times the usual size. Therefore, pregnant mothers need to pay special attention to nutritional supplementation during pregnancy.
