Does mycoplasma infection in women affect fertility?

Having a child is something that every woman of childbearing age looks forward to, but with the increasing pressure of modern life and increasingly serious environmental pollution, many women have encountered various problems in fertility. For example, various vaginal inflammations, uterine lesions, etc. can cause serious problems in female fertility, and general viral infections may also cause these problems. Let’s take a look at whether mycoplasma infection in women affects fertility?

After mycoplasma infects women, on the one hand, the decomposition of urea destroys the weakly acidic environment that serves as a natural barrier, making it easy for other pathogenic microorganisms to colonize and infect, which is not conducive to sperm survival and can cause mucosal cell necrosis and stagnation of fallopian tube ciliary movement; on the other hand, the increase in hormone levels during pregnancy increases the toxicity of mycoplasma, inducing immune damage, destroying the mother's own immune tolerance mechanism, damaging the metabolism and physiological function of the endometrium, interfering with and destroying the development of the embryo, and ultimately promoting tissue embryo loss, causing miscarriage and infertility.

What are the factors that affect female fertility?

1. Vaginal factors

Congenital factors such as vaginal atresia or vaginal septum cause sexual intercourse disorders or difficulties, which affect the entry of sperm into the female reproductive tract. Furthermore, vaginal inflammation caused by infections such as fungi, Trichomonas, and gonococci changes the biochemical environment of the vagina, reduces sperm motility and survival ability, and thus affects the chance of conception.

2. Cervical factors

Cervical stenosis, polyps, tumors, adhesions, etc. can all affect the passage of sperm; cervical erosion, its inflammatory exudate has a spermicidal effect; the presence of anti-sperm antibodies in cervical mucus is not conducive to sperm penetration of the cervical canal or completely makes the sperm lose its ability to move. Among them, it is worth noting that cervical adhesions caused by artificial abortion before marriage, especially repeated abortions are more likely to cause this serious complication, which keeps sperm out of the cervical opening. Congenital abnormalities of the cervical canal are often accompanied by abnormal menstruation or dysmenorrhea, and girls will go to the hospital for examination after their menarche. Cervicitis caused by gonococci and other bacteria is infected through sexual intercourse and often leads to cervical occlusion or stenosis.
