How to treat hemorrhoids during lactation

How to treat hemorrhoids during lactation

If there is any period that is high incidence of hemorrhoids, then the lactation period of women must be one of them. Breastfeeding women not only need to supplement their nutrition and eat a lot of food, but also spend most of their time sitting or lying down, which makes it easy for them to get hemorrhoids. And many drugs are prohibited for breastfeeding women. It seems difficult to treat hemorrhoids during breastfeeding, but there are ways to do it!

1Why are breastfeeding mothers more likely to get hemorrhoids?

New mothers develop hemorrhoids during breastfeeding, mainly because of the remnant problems of hemorrhoids during pregnancy. After a woman becomes pregnant, the tone of the gastrointestinal smooth muscles decreases, and peristalsis slows down and weakens, which delays the emptying of food from the stomach and prolongs the transit time in the intestines. As a result, feces stay in the colon for too long, the water content decreases, and the feces become dry and hard, causing constipation. At this time, defecation requires holding the breath, and the enlarged uterus puts pressure on the rectum, resulting in poor pelvic venous return and subsequent hemorrhoids.

2What should a mother do if she gets hemorrhoids during breastfeeding?

If a new mother develops hemorrhoids during breastfeeding, she should not take medication privately to avoid affecting the baby. Experts recommend that patients go to a regular hospital for examination and treatment in a timely manner. Take medication according to the doctor's advice, maintain good living habits, and exercise regularly to avoid worsening of hemorrhoidal disease.

Treatment of hemorrhoids during breastfeeding

As we all know, the current methods for treating hemorrhoids are drug treatment, traditional surgical treatment and minimally invasive treatment.

1. Drug treatment:

It is the first choice method for many patients, but drug treatment can only temporarily relieve the condition and cannot completely cure it. In addition, new mothers have to breastfeed their babies during the breastfeeding period. Once they take medicines that have an impact on the baby, it is likely to affect the baby's health. Therefore, experts do not recommend that patients use drug treatment methods.

2. Traditional surgical treatment:

Although hemorrhoids can be cured, it takes a long time and is very painful. The baby still needs the mother's care during breastfeeding, which is not good for the health of the baby and the new mother. Therefore, experts recommend minimally invasive treatment.

3. Minimally invasive treatment of hemorrhoids:

Mainly PPH minimally invasive surgery and HCPT minimally invasive surgery.
