How to recover from uterine prolapse after childbirth?

During a long pregnancy, due to gravity, a woman's uterus is prone to sagging. Therefore, an important thing for a woman after giving birth is to allow the uterus to recover, such as doing exercises to restore the uterus. In addition, she needs to pay attention to her diet and adjust her lifestyle habits in all aspects.

1. Symptoms of postpartum uterine prolapse

Uterine prolapse is also called uterine prolapse. The inner wall of the uterus cannot contract and recover well, and it sags into the vagina. In severe cases, it may extend outside the body. The common symptoms of uterine prolapse include at least a feeling of falling (the feeling that something is about to fall out of the lower abdomen). Normally, you will suffer from back pain, and in severe cases, it will also affect the bladder and rectum, and cause frequent urination, incomplete urination, or constipation. Uterine prolapse is caused by Qi deficiency and sinking, belt meridian dysfunction, Chong and Ren meridian deficiency, or multiple births, difficult labor, excessive force during delivery, and heavy physical labor too early after delivery, which damage the cell network and kidney Qi, resulting in the loss of maintenance of the uterus. According to its manifestations, it can be divided into three syndromes: Qi deficiency and sinking, kidney deficiency and instability, and damp-heat invasion. For those with qi deficiency and downward movement, symptoms include shortness of breath, laziness to speak, pale complexion, and an empty lower abdomen; for those with kidney deficiency and instability, symptoms include dizziness, tinnitus, sore waist and weak legs; for those with damp heat downward movement, symptoms include friction injuries from protruding objects, local redness, swelling and ulceration, yellow fluid dripping, swelling and pain in the vulva, and frequent red urine. Fuliang Fang Gong Chuitie draws on the traditional Chinese medicine's "replenishing vital energy" therapy. According to the principle of "replenishing the weak, lifting the sunken, and consolidating the loose", it focuses on replenishing qi and lifting, tonifying the kidney and consolidating the loose, while having the effects of diuresis, drying dampness, and lifting and astringing.

2. Causes of postpartum uterine prolapse

1. If pregnant mothers have premature labor or delayed labor, the possibility of uterine prolapse after delivery will be higher than that of mothers who give birth normally. Precipitous labor refers to less than 3 hours from regular uterine contractions to fetal delivery. For mothers who give birth prematurely, the pelvic tissue and guiding muscles are compressed and torn by the sudden upward movement before they have time to fully expand. If they are not repaired in time after delivery, the pelvic supporting tissue cannot return to normal after delivery, which may lead to uterine prolapse. The reason why delayed labor can easily cause uterine prolapse is that the fetal head presses on the vagina and pelvic tissue for too long, causing damage to the pelvic tissue and possibly causing uterine prolapse.

2. Not paying attention to lying down and resting after delivery, participating in physical labor too early, doing too much physical labor, and squatting too much may also cause uterine prolapse. Within one month to 42 days after delivery, mothers should pay attention to rest. It is best to sit or stand when doing things and avoid squatting for a long time. After the confinement period, you can do some postpartum exercises, such as anal lifting exercises, exercises to train the back muscles and abdominal muscles, etc. Appropriate exercise is very beneficial for postpartum body recovery.

3. Using a restraint belt after childbirth can also easily cause uterine prolapse. Many parenting websites now promote the idea that using a restraint belt after childbirth can help mothers regain their figure. In fact, except for caesarean section to compress the wound and prevent bleeding, it can be used moderately under the guidance of a doctor. Generally, if a woman uses a restraint belt during the confinement period, it can help her restore her figure, but it may increase the risk of urinary incontinence and uterine prolapse in the future.

3. Treatment of postpartum uterine prolapse

1. General rehabilitation therapy improves physical fitness, strengthens nutrition, provides adequate rest, pays attention to the combination of work and rest, and maintains smooth bowel movements. Avoid compressing the lower abdomen to increase abdominal pressure and heavy physical labor.

2. Treatment of uterine prolapse involves placing a tray in the vagina in combination with general treatment. It is suitable for patients with grade I and grade II mild uterine prolapse and moderate prolapse of the vaginal wall. Commonly used types include trumpet-shaped, ring-shaped, ball-shaped, and ball-belly-mushroom head pessaries.

3. Surgical treatment is suitable for patients who have failed non-surgical treatment or have severe grade II or III uterine prolapse complicated by bulging of the anterior and posterior vaginal walls. The choice of surgical method for the treatment of uterine prolapse should be based on the patient's general condition, whether or not she has fertility requirements, etc. It is recommended to treat under the guidance of a clinician.
