How long does it take to give birth after labor pain and bleeding?

Generally, a first-time pregnant woman will need about twelve hours of labor pains after the onset of bleeding before giving birth. If it is her second or third child, it will be faster, usually just a few hours. However, it is not ruled out that when the contractions are not that strong, the birth may take two or three days. It mainly depends on the individual's physical condition.

What should pregnant women pay attention to after seeing red

1. Expectant mothers usually do not give birth immediately after spotting. If there are no other signs of labor such as contractions or water breaking, you can take a bath first and then go to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor will evaluate the opening of the cervix and then recommend that the mother go home to rest or go directly to the hospital to wait for delivery.

2. If the bleeding is heavy and continuous, seek medical attention immediately. Generally, spotting before delivery is caused by the thinning of the cervix, but if there is heavy bleeding that does not stop, it is necessary to consider the problem of the placenta.

3. Contractions usually occur every 1 to 2 minutes, and each lasts 40 to 60 seconds. The cervix becomes thinner and softer before delivery at 8 to 10 cm from the cervical opening, which leads to spotting.

4. If there is only slight spotting, the doctor may judge that the cause is indeed the thinning and bleeding of the cervix, but the cervix has not yet opened, and the pregnant mother has not yet experienced labor pains and water breaking, the doctor will usually ask the mother to go home and wait for delivery.

5. If the mother has seen spotting and has contractions or her water has broken, in most cases the doctor will ask the mother to be admitted to the hospital to wait for delivery.

6. It is not caused by thinning of the cervix, but may be abnormal placental bleeding. Immediate hospitalization for observation or induced labor is required.

7. Many pregnant mothers believe that they will have immediate contractions after spotting. Because of mental tension, they focus their attention completely on this, which leads to insomnia. Physical fatigue caused by lack of sleep will lead to decreased physical strength and lack of energy, which is very unfavorable for childbirth. Keep a good mood, wait actively and patiently, eat normally, get enough sleep, and maintain your physical strength.
