What is the difference between urethritis and gonorrhea?

Gonorrhea and urethritis have certain similarities, and many people easily confuse these two diseases. In fact, these are two completely different diseases. Gonorrhea is an infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which is mainly transmitted through sexual contact. It is a contagious sexually transmitted disease with genital organ lesions as the main feature, while urethritis is mainly caused by bacterial infection and is different in terms of harmfulness.

When gonorrhea recurs, it will cause the following harm to the patient, and patients should pay attention to it.

Harm 1. Inducing infertility.

Gonorrhea can infect the male prostate, seminal vesicles, and epididymis, causing sperm abnormalities and leading to infertility. Women can be infected with the cervix, endometrium, fallopian tubes, etc., causing salpingitis, fallopian tube blockage, and infertility.

Harm 2: It causes sexual dysfunction.

If gonorrhea is not effectively treated, it will lead to repeated attacks, and symptoms such as decreased libido, weak erections, impotence, premature ejaculation and neurasthenia may occur.

Harm 3. Complications with other diseases.

The differences between gonorrhea and urethritis include urethral adenitis, periurethral tissue inflammation and abscess, preputial adenitis, vas deferens, seminal vesiculitis, hydrocele, orchitis, prostatitis, balanitis, gonococcal ulcer, epididymitis and urethral stenosis. Gonorrhea can also spread through the blood, causing arthritis, hepatitis, and severe cases can be life-threatening.

This is also one of the most important aspects of their differences. The reason why gonorrhea is more frightening is because of the three major hazards mentioned above. In comparison, the hazards of urethritis are nothing. The above content is an introduction to the differences between urethritis and gonorrhea.
