Can vulvar dystrophy heal itself?

Some people may hear about vulvar malnutrition for the first time and may even be surprised. How can the vulva suffer from malnutrition? This mainly refers to the fact that women have a single diet structure and unbalanced nutrition, which leads to low immunity of the body, and then causes atrophy or hyperplasia of the vulva, which appears to be caused by malnutrition. A common disease is vulvar leukoplakia. If you suffer from vulvar dystrophy, can you heal yourself? This is a concern for many people, so let’s talk about it below.

Causes

1. Vulvar atrophy dystrophy

That is, lichen sclerosus atrophicus of the vulva. The cause is unknown. There are several theories: ①Genetic factors; ②Congenital factors; ③Endocrine influences; ④Autoimmune factors.

2. Leukoplakia vulvae

The cause of the disease is still unclear, but it may be related to systemic factors, such as diabetes and endocrine disorders. Local factors play an important role in the occurrence of this disease. The local environment of the vulva, such as moisture, heat and other physical stimulation, can lead to vulvar leukoplakia.

1. Vulvar atrophy dystrophy

(1) Drug treatment: ① Topical application of hydrocortisone ointment can relieve symptoms; ② Oral chloroquine can relieve itching symptoms; ③ Treatment with testosterone; ④ Topical application of trans-retinoic acid once a day, 5 times a week, for 1 year;

(2) Surgical treatment: vulvar excision, cryosurgery or laser treatment.

2. Leukoplakia vulvae

(1) Conservative treatment: Wash the vulva frequently, keep it dry and clean, and treat concomitant diseases. For local treatment, hydrocortisone ointment can be used topically when itching is obvious. Keratosis pilaris can be treated topically with 0.025% retinoic acid or 5-fluorouracil ointment. Immunomodulatory drugs such as 5% imiquimod cream can be used.

(2) Surgical treatment of leukoplakia vulvae can cause cancer, so first of all, a clear diagnosis of leukoplakia vulvae should be made, the degree of atypical lesions should be determined, and regular follow-up observations should be conducted. Only when the lesions are obviously deformed and have a tendency to develop into carcinoma in situ, is it a definite surgical indication for vulvar leukoplakia.
