What is corpus luteum rupture?

The harm of corpus luteum rupture in women is very serious and can easily lead to heavy bleeding. There are many reasons for corpus luteum rupture, such as spontaneous rupture, which often causes a small amount of bleeding, and external force can easily lead to heavy bleeding. In addition, sexual intercourse can also cause corpus luteum rupture. If a woman feels lower abdominal pain after sexual intercourse, she must be vigilant at this time. If the corpus luteum ruptures, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

1. Spontaneous rupture: Under normal circumstances, there is a small amount of bleeding in the corpus luteum, but if there is too much bleeding, it may increase the pressure in the corpus luteum, resulting in spontaneous rupture. Some people believe that during the period of luteinization, vascular dysfunction occurs, which makes capillary bleeding in the corpus luteum prone to occur, leading to corpus luteum rupture.

2. External force: If the lower abdomen is hit, or when jumping, running, coughing or defecating violently, the pressure in the abdominal cavity suddenly increases, which can cause the mature corpus luteum to rupture. In addition, during sexual intercourse, the female reproductive organs expand and become congested, the tension in the corpus luteum increases, and the man's rough movements cause a strong impact on the woman's lower abdomen, which can also lead to rupture of the corpus luteum.

3. Caused by sexual intercourse: During sexual intercourse, the reproductive organs expand and become congested. When reaching orgasm, the muscle tissue may contract spasmodically, causing the tension in the corpus luteum to increase. If the male has rough sexual intercourse and the woman's lower abdomen is strongly impacted, it will cause the corpus luteum to rupture. Therefore, when a woman experiences lower abdominal pain after sexual intercourse, she must not be careless.

The treatment principles are basically the same as those for ectopic pregnancy, and there are two methods: conservative and surgical.

Since the chance of recurrent bleeding is small, once the condition is stabilized, conservative treatment is more likely to be successful under close observation. Doctors should be aware of conservative treatment, diagnose and treat early to reduce the chance of surgery. If the diagnosis of this disease is confirmed by laparoscopy, conservative treatment will be more confident.

For patients with acute onset, severe clinical symptoms, excessive internal bleeding or ectopic pregnancy, early surgery can reduce blood loss and is beneficial to the patient's health recovery. During the operation, the ovarian function can be preserved as much as possible, which is beneficial to the patient's physical and mental health. The surgical method is laparotomy to stop bleeding, and the ruptured corpus luteum often needs to be removed and then sutured. During the operation, accumulated blood is removed and fresh internal bleeding can be autotransfused to save blood.
