What is the difference between the outer and inner vulva?

The difference between the female vulva and the internal vulva is quite obvious. The female vulva is the external genitalia, which refers to the female perineum, Bartholin's glands, hymen, vaginal opening, urethral opening, clitoris, labia majora and minora. These all belong to the vulva, while the female internal organs refer to the internal organs in the vagina. The inner vagina includes the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Most of the female vulva can be seen from the outside with the naked eye, but the internal factors are invisible to the naked eye.

The female external genitalia, also known as the vulva, refers to the area on the inner side of the thighs from the pubic symphysis to the perineum, including the mons pubis, labia majora and minora, clitoris, vestibule, urethral orifice, vaginal orifice, hymen, Bartholin's glands, perineum, etc.

1. The mons pubis is a fat pad that rises in front of the pubic symphysis. Pubic hair begins to grow on the skin during puberty and is distributed in a triangle with the tip pointing downward.

2. The labia majora are a pair of skin folds close to the inner sides of the thighs, connected to the mons pubis in front and the perineum in the back. The labia majora of unmarried women naturally close together, covering the vaginal opening and urethral opening. After childbirth, the labia majora separate and become atrophied after menopause.

3. The labia minora are a pair of thin folds located on the inner side of the labia majora. The surface is moist, the inner side is light pink, and the skin is rich in nerve endings, so it is sensitive. The front ends of the labia minora on both sides fuse together and are divided into two leaves, which surround the clitoris. The front leaf forms the clitoral hood and the posterior leaf forms the clitoral frenulum. The posterior end of the labia minora meets the posterior end of the labia majora, forming a horizontal fold in the midline called the frenulum.

4. The clitoris is located at the top between the labia minora on both sides, similar to the cavernous tissue of the male penis. The glans clitoris has rich nerve endings, is extremely sensitive, and has erectile properties.

5. The vaginal vestibule refers to the diamond-shaped area between the labia minora on both sides. The front boundary is the clitoris, the two sides are the inner sides of the labia minora, and the back is bounded by the frenulum of the labia minora. In this area, there is the urethral opening in front and the vaginal opening in the back.

6. The greater Bartholin's glands, also known as the Bartholin's glands, are located at the lower back of the labia majora. They are the size of soybeans, one on each side. The gland duct opens in the groove between the labia minora and the hymen at the vaginal opening, and secretes mucus to lubricate the vagina during sexual excitement.

7. The urethral opening is located between the clitoris and the vaginal opening. It is the opening of the urethra and is oval in shape. There are two openings of paraurethral glands near the external opening on the posterior wall of the urethra, which is a place where bacteria can easily lurk.

8. Vaginal opening and hymen The vaginal opening is located below the urethral opening and behind the vestibule. Its shape and size are often irregular.

The vaginal opening is covered with a thin film called the hymen. There is a small hole in the center of the membrane. The shape, size and thickness of the hole vary from person to person. The hymen often ruptures during first sexual intercourse and is further damaged during childbirth, leaving a few small raised hymen marks after delivery.

9. The perineum refers to the soft tissue between the anus and the posterior joint of the labia majora, and is also part of the pelvic floor.
