What to do if you have shoulder pain after childbirth

After giving birth, many women will feel varying degrees of discomfort in their bodies. Moreover, if there are people who breastfeed after giving birth, and if they are not new mothers who breastfeed while lying down, they often feel shoulder pain to varying degrees after giving birth. In fact, these words are often caused by postpartum rheumatism problems. What to do with shoulder pain after childbirth?

Postpartum rheumatism (also called "wind-cold syndrome", "water-induced" and "alcohol-induced") is a disease characterized by soreness and pain in the muscles and joints caused by wind, cold and dampness when the body is weak after childbirth or after an abortion, which damages the joints, tendons, muscles, skin and other tissues. The main symptoms of this disease are pain in muscles and joints throughout the body, fear of wind, cold, and intolerance of fatigue, but there is no redness or swelling in the affected joints and muscles.

Generally, if postpartum rheumatism is not treated properly, most of the patients will develop severe rheumatism or rheumatoid arthritis in the late stage. Rheumatism is caused by wind evil that enters from the outside to the inside, penetrates the bone surface, and causes blood circulation obstruction, leading to bone and muscle malnutrition, joint deformation, muscle atrophy, and dryness and necrosis of active joints. The internal circulation is not smooth, resulting in the accumulation of rheumatic metabolites in the joint cavity or between the skin and cannot be discharged, causing swelling or edema all over the body, fluid accumulation in the active joint cavity, metabolic disorders, and some patients develop rheumatoid arthritis. Long-term rheumatism invades the human body, occupies the body, affects blood circulation, causes the organs and blood vessels in the body to lose nutrition and deform, and some muscle tissues atrophy. In severe cases, it directly invades the internal organs, causing internal organ diseases, leading to organ dysfunction, weak circulation of qi and blood, insufficient supply of the limbs, dry tendons and bones, and severe rheumatoid arthritis. One of the main reasons why postpartum rheumatism is difficult to treat is that rheumatism entering the kidneys can lead to decreased renal function.

1. Daily life: Keep warm, do not let cold wind blow directly on your body, do not come into contact with cold water; avoid moisture and excessive fatigue.

2. Diet adjustment: Eat more foods that are easy to digest and rich in nutrition, avoid cold foods and cold drinks, and avoid spicy and greasy foods.

3. Do appropriate exercise: such as slow walking, gymnastics, boxing, etc. to enhance the body's resistance; go outdoors often to bask in the sun.

Warm reminder: Once a pregnant woman has postpartum rheumatism problems, which causes dull pain in the shoulders, active treatment is needed. And you need to keep your emotions in check. Although new mothers have a lot of things to do, they need to keep their body and mind happy and avoid tension and anxiety.
