Will I still have my period if I'm pregnant?

The most direct symptom of pregnancy is amenorrhea, but some women will still have a small amount of menstruation after pregnancy. If this happens, you should generally consider whether it is threatened abortion or vaginal bleeding. Because some women may experience abnormal bleeding due to unstable progesterone and estrogen, you must find out the cause when bleeding occurs during pregnancy.

Will I still have my period if I'm pregnant?

1. Vaginal bleeding: Bleeding after pregnancy is common in pregnancy complicated by cervical polyps or erosions. Cervical cancer can also cause vaginal bleeding. In very rare cases, menstruation during pregnancy can be understood as a physiological reaction after the fertilized egg implants.

2. Threatened abortion: There is a history of amenorrhea, and the urine pregnancy test is positive, confirming pregnancy. In this case, if vaginal bleeding occurs, or is accompanied by back pain or abdominal pain, threatened abortion should be considered first, and the possibility of ectopic pregnancy should also be considered.

3. Under normal circumstances, after a woman becomes pregnant, her ovaries will secrete a large amount of progesterone, estrogen, etc. to promote the thickening of the endometrium, thereby providing a fertile "soil" for the implantation and growth of the fertilized egg. At this time, as the levels of estrogen and progesterone in women's bodies continue to increase, the endometrium will no longer shed, and women will no longer have menstruation.

4. Due to individual differences and other reasons, some women's ovaries secrete relatively low levels of sex hormones, especially progesterone, after pregnancy, causing a small part of the endometrium to continue to shed. Therefore, these women will still have menstruation after pregnancy, but the amount of menstruation will be much less than normal. It is not until three months into pregnancy that the placenta is formed and begins to secrete sex hormones instead of the ovaries, maintaining a relatively high level of estrogen and progesterone in the female body. At this time, the endometrium no longer sheds and menstruation no longer occurs.
