What should I do if there are lumps and pain in my breast during breastfeeding?

Breast lumps during lactation are quite common. Many breastfeeding women may be affected. Sometimes it is caused by milk congestion. The most common one is acute mastitis. First of all, you should pay attention to some anti-inflammatory treatment and do more massage.

1. If there are lumps in the breasts during lactation, it means that there is milk accumulation in the breasts. If the lumps are painful, it means that the milk accumulation has caused acute mastitis.

2. Two points should be noted in case of acute mastitis during lactation: 1. Anti-inflammatory, 2. Timely discharge of milk.

3. Anti-inflammatory. Penicillin injections can be given during breastfeeding. The inflammation usually disappears within two days. A skin test should be done before injecting penicillin. After the injection, because the foremilk is cool, you should express the foremilk before feeding.

4. Discharge milk in time. Make a C with your thumb and index finger and gently pinch the nipple (including the areola). Gently and quickly push and pull the nipple forward, and the mother will produce a milk let-down reflex. After squeezing out some milk, apply it around the nipple to act as a lubricant. Continue expressing until there is almost no milk left. Stop for 30 seconds and continue squeezing. The entire milking process should feel "natural" and "easy", allowing the milk to flow out easily. At the same time, you can use hot compress, massage, and a breast pump. When massaging, pay attention to bend your fingers together and "comb" from the base of the breast towards the nipple.

5. Folk remedy: cut the potatoes into thin slices, put them in the refrigerator, and after a period of time, apply cold compress to the breasts. The effect is pretty good. Also, make sure to discharge the cooler milk first after applying the cold compress.

6. If the fever is caused by breast inflammation, you can use a cooling patch. At the same time, drinking more water is also good for the body.

7. If the milk is discharged in time, the milk will be renewed quickly and breastfeeding will not be affected. You can't imagine the huge role your baby plays in eliminating lumps.
