What is the reason for the small gestational sac? Are they playing tricks?

When pregnant women just become pregnant, they must go to the hospital for regular check-ups. After all, it exists in the form of a gestational sac before it is formed, so the size of the gestational sac is the main basis for detecting whether the fetus is normal. Many pregnant women have a small gestational sac, so what is the reason for the small gestational sac?

Physiological reasons: Delayed menstruation, late ovulation, late conception, etc. may all lead to a small gestational sac. Generally speaking, this physiological small gestational sac is normal. The gestational sac will continue to grow, and a fetal bud and fetal heart will appear.

Pathological causes: Viral infection or poor development of the fertilized egg can also cause a small gestational sac. If you are infected with rubella virus, have a cold or fever, take medicine randomly or come into contact with harmful substances during pregnancy, it will affect the development of the gestational sac. Although the gestational sac may continue to grow, no fetal bud or fetal heartbeat will appear. This kind of gestational sac is unhealthy and can easily cause miscarriage in pregnant women.

A small gestational sac may be due to physiological or pathological reasons. A small gestational sac does not necessarily mean that you must have an abortion, but if it is indeed inappropriate to continue the pregnancy, abortion is the best option. Although aborting a child you truly desire is a cruel thing to do, it should still be done for the sake of the child's health.

The gestational sac can only be seen in the early stages of pregnancy. Generally, the presence of the gestational sac can be observed through B-ultrasound after 5 weeks of pregnancy. The gestational sac is generally round or oval in shape, located in the upper and middle part of the uterus, and looks relatively clear. A normal gestational sac will change in size as the fetus develops. The diameter of the gestational sac is about 2 cm at 6 weeks of pregnancy and about 5 cm at 10 weeks of pregnancy. By the eleventh week, the placenta appears and the gestational sac will become an amniotic sac, and the gestational sac will no longer be seen during ultrasound examination.
