Complete list of treatments for vulvar atrophy

The problem of exogenous atrophy can manifest as different atrophy symptoms. Usually, the symptoms are not obvious during the first stage of atrophy. The vulva may have slight itching and white disease symptoms. When these symptoms occur, you should also pay attention to prevention and develop good living habits.

1. Stage I atrophic type:

The main symptoms are not obvious. Some patients have mild itching, no white lesions appear, and the vulva has atrophy that is not easily visible to the naked eye.

2. Stage II atrophic type:

The typical symptom is mild visible atrophy of the vulva, usually starting from the labia majora, minora and clitoris. The elasticity of the labia majora and minora decreases, and the surface wrinkles decrease or disappear. Vulvar itching is relatively mild. Due to atrophy, there may be dryness of the vulva, discomfort during sexual intercourse, etc. Localized hypopigmentation occurs on the vulvar skin, in the form of multiple dots or flakes.

3. Stage III atrophic type:

The symptoms are severe. The labia majora of the vulva are flat, the labia minora disappear, and the clitoris shrinks, becomes smaller or becomes adhered. The urethral opening atrophies, and in severe cases, urinary incontinence occurs. The vaginal opening atrophies, and sexual intercourse becomes difficult. Some patients develop anal leukoplakia and atrophy, causing the skin around the anus to become wrinkled and less elastic, which can lead to anal fissures during defecation. About 50% of patients have large areas of hypopigmentation on the vulvar skin.

4. Prevention of vulvar atrophy:

1. Live a regular life, don’t stay up late, get up early and go to bed early.

2. Reasonable diet: use some light diet, eat less spicy food, and do not drink alcohol. Eat more fruits and vegetables containing vitamins.

3. Keep external factors clean: take a bath frequently and change underwear frequently.

4. Moderate exercise: do some functional exercises.

5. Keep a happy mood.

6. Early diagnosis, active treatment, good follow-up, and prevention of cancer.
