What are the symptoms of vulvar eczema?

Some female friends found some small bumps on the vulva when cleaning their private parts, but they didn't take it seriously. Gradually, they began to itch and even became unbearable, accompanied by a burning sensation. Could this be a symptom of eczema?

Vulvar eczema symptoms:

Vulvar eczema in women is a relatively common skin disease, which is mostly caused by spleen deficiency, lack of attention to hygiene, and exogenous dampness. Vulvar eczema in women often occurs on the labia majora and inguinal cleft. The course of the disease is variable in length and the attacks are irregular. The symptoms are usually not obvious, but severe itching occurs when going to bed or when you are nervous. The accompanying itching may lead to secondary infection after scratching, resulting in local redness and small pus spots in the center of some rashes.

Acute stage of vulvar eczema symptoms

The main symptoms are severe itching and diffuse redness of the vulva. The skin lesions are polymorphic without obvious boundaries. As the disease progresses, needle-sized papules, papulovesicles or small blisters appear on the skin surface, the base becomes congested, and the boundaries of the lesions are unclear. Then the erosion, edema and exudation worsen.

Scratching is accompanied by a burning sensation and severe itching, which damages the epidermis, causes infection and scabs, and may be accompanied by swollen inguinal lymph nodes, fever and general discomfort. If not treated properly, repeated attacks can prolong the course of the disease and turn it into a chronic condition.

Chronic stage of vulvar eczema symptoms

Due to repeated scratching, a small amount of fluid will ooze out of the scratched area, and the condition will be prolonged and difficult to heal. It causes infiltration and hypertrophy in the epidermis and dermis, and rough skin. It may be lichenified, with clear borders and often bran-like scales on the surface. It is hard to the touch or has moist crusts. In severe cases, cracks may occur and there is pain during movement. The skin appears brown or depigmented due to blood crusts and pigmentation.
