Teratoma affects health and must be treated in time!

The ovaries are one of the important reproductive organs of women and are of great significance to women. However, the ovaries are also a part where problems easily occur. Ovarian teratoma is one of them. However, most of them are benign and there are no obvious symptoms at first. Here we would like to remind all female friends that if you suffer from teratoma, you must seek timely treatment.

What is a teratoma?

Ovarian teratoma is a very common gynecological disease and a benign tumor. It is a common cause of complications during gynecological surgery. This type of tumor occurs not only in the ovaries of women, but also in some parts of men such as the testicles and head and neck, but it is more common in the ovaries. Speaking of this disease, many friends will have a fear mentality towards it, but there is no need to be so. To put it simply, teratoma means that the embryo has grown crooked, and it is not as scary as we imagine. Let's take a look at what harm teratoma has and how to treat it.

Usually, we can make a rough diagnosis through ultrasound examination. Ovarian teratomas generally have no symptoms, but in some cases, when some teratomas grow to a certain size, they may twist, causing abdominal pain, and in rare cases, they may also cause symptoms of a neurological encephalitis.

Generally speaking, once a teratoma is discovered, it needs to be removed surgically; however, for some smaller teratomas, generally less than 3 cm in size, there is no need to rush into surgery. A decision can be made after a few months of observation, because the teratoma is too small to be operated on, and there is also the fear of misdiagnosis. Therefore, it is more appropriate to treat according to the situation.

If a teratoma occurs during pregnancy, you need to observe it in the first three months of pregnancy and then have surgery after twelve weeks. If it is in the middle or late stage of pregnancy, wait until after delivery to deal with it; if the teratoma is discovered before pregnancy, it is best to have surgery first to prevent the tumor from growing during pregnancy.

If you have this disease, you must first maintain a good attitude, do not panic or have any mental burden, and face it with optimism and open-mindedness. A good mental state is the basis for treatment. Pay more attention to rest after the operation, and at the same time pay attention to a light diet and balanced nutrition.
