Do you know the four major symptoms of otitis media?

I believe many people have heard of the disease called otitis media. This disease is mainly caused by infection of the middle ear and is more common in children. It has a great impact on human health and life. So what are the specific symptoms of otitis media?

1. Hearing loss

The clinical manifestations of otitis media are hearing loss and increased self-hearing. When the head tilts forward or to the front, the effusion leaves the cochlear conduction channel, and hearing can be temporarily improved.

When the effusion is viscous, hearing may not change with changes in head position. If one ear is diseased and the hearing in the other ear is normal, it may not be noticed for a long time and may only be discovered during a physical examination.

2. Ear sounds

The clinical manifestations of otitis media are mostly low-pitched and intermittent, such as "crackling, buzzing and running water sounds. When the head moves or yawns or blows the nose, a sound of air passing through water may occur in the ear.

3. Earache with a stuffy feeling

The clinical manifestation of acute otitis media is that patients may have dull ear pain, which is often the first symptom of the patient and can be continuous or cramping. In chronic cases, ear pain is not obvious. This disease is often accompanied by a feeling of blockage or stuffiness in the ear, which can be temporarily relieved by pressing the tragus.

4. Otoscopic examination

Initially, the flaccid part of the tympanic membrane is congested, and radially dilated blood vessels can be seen around the handle of the malleus and the tense part; subsequently, the tympanic membrane becomes diffusely congested, accompanied by swelling, bulging outward like a nipple, with a yellow spot in the center.
