Do you know the causes and treatments of low blood pressure?

Hypotension is a common disease in life, usually manifested by uncomfortable symptoms such as dizziness, blacking out, and slow thinking. This disease is mainly caused by insufficient blood supply to human organs. If not treated in time, there is even a risk of myocardial infarction. So what factors in life can cause hypotension?

What are the causes of low blood pressure?

【Drug-induced hypotension】

Hypertension patients may also suffer from hypotension if they take antihypertensive drugs such as methyldopa, guanethidine, and pargyline, tranquilizers such as chlorpromazine and fluphenazine, diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide and furosemide, and antianginal drugs such as isopropylamine and nitroglycerin.

Postural hypotension

That is orthostatic hypotension. The elderly have poor neuroregulatory function, and arteriosclerosis reduces the elasticity of their arteries. Weak patients, long-term bedridden patients, and those who stand in a hot and stuffy environment for too long are all prone to orthostatic hypotension, especially when standing suddenly from an upright or lying position. Symptoms may include dizziness, blacking out, sweating, palpitations, and even cataplexy.

[Micturition hypotension]

Sudden fainting and unconsciousness during or after urination, with no warning signs before the attack and returning to normal within 2 to 3 minutes after the attack. It is mostly caused by the sudden emptying of the bladder after it is full at night, which causes a sudden decrease in abdominal pressure, resulting in venous dilation, a decrease in the amount of blood returning to the heart, and a drop in blood pressure.

【Constitutional hypotension】

It is more common in women with thin constitution and may have a family genetic tendency. Patients usually feel dizzy, palpitations, and fatigue, but often no illness can be found in the hospital. This is because myocardial tension is weakened and blood vessel wall elasticity is lost.

Secondary hypotension often occurs following chronic diseases such as acute blood loss, heart disease, chronic anemia, diabetes, cerebral arteriosclerosis, and stroke. Patients may experience symptoms such as drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, and visual impairment.

Low blood pressure care methods

1. Strengthen nutrition, eat both meat and vegetables, and reasonably match meals to ensure the intake of comprehensive and sufficient nutrients, so that the physique will gradually become strong from being weak. Eat more foods that replenish qi and blood, and warm and nourish the spleen and kidneys, such as lotus seeds, longans, jujubes, mulberries and other fruits. They have the power to nourish the heart and blood, strengthen the spleen and nourish the brain, and can be eaten frequently. Ginseng stewed with lean meat, angelica stewed with lamb, Panax notoginseng stewed with chicken, etc. are all very beneficial for patients with low blood pressure. Drink more soup, drink more water, and increase salt intake.

2. If you have anemia accompanied by low red blood cell count and insufficient hemoglobin, you should eat more foods rich in protein, iron, copper, folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin C and other "hematopoietic raw materials", such as pork liver, egg yolk, lean meat, milk, fish, shrimp, shellfish, soybeans, tofu, brown sugar and fresh vegetables and fruits. Correcting anemia helps increase cardiac output, improve blood supply to the brain, raise blood pressure and eliminate adverse symptoms caused by low blood pressure.

3. People with poor appetite should eat appropriate amounts of appetite-stimulating foods and condiments, such as ginger, onions, vinegar, sauce, sugar, pepper, chili, beer, wine, etc.

4. In contrast to hypertension, this disease should adopt an appropriate high-sodium, high-cholesterol diet. Sodium chloride (i.e. table salt) needs to be consumed at 12-15 grams per day (but the salt intake should not be too high). Foods that are high in cholesterol, such as brain, liver, eggs, cream, fish roe, pork bones, etc., if eaten in moderation and regularly, can help increase blood cholesterol levels, increase arterial tension, and raise blood pressure.

5. Eat less foods that have antihypertensive effects, such as red beans, gourds, winter melons, watermelons, celery, hawthorns, bitter melons, mung beans, garlic, kelp, onions, sunflower seeds, etc.
