What is the cause of low-grade fever in mastitis?

Mastitis is more common among women, and is more common among women who have given birth. Mastitis is not a serious disease, but it will affect the quality of breast milk. If mastitis is severe, it will not only cause a low fever in pregnant women, but the baby will also be unable to consume the mother's breast milk, so weaning is necessary in time. So what is the cause of low fever caused by mastitis? Mastitis generally does not cause low fever in women. If there is a low fever, there must be a reason for it.

Mastitis refers to an acute suppurative infection of the breast. It is a common disease in the postpartum period and one of the causes of postpartum fever. It is most common in lactating women, especially primiparas. It can occur at any time during lactation but is most common at the beginning of lactation.

1. Milk stasis is likely to lead to the reproduction and growth of invading bacteria. The main causes of milk stasis are poor nipple development (too small or inverted), which hinders breastfeeding. Excessive milk secretion or insufficient milk sucking by the baby, incorrect breastfeeding posture, and blocked mammary ducts can also cause milk stasis. This can cause breast inflammation and lead to mastitis fever.

2. Bacteria may also often invade through damaged and cracked nipples, and invasion along the lymphatic vessels is the main route of infection. When a baby sleeps with a nipple in his mouth or when a baby with stomatitis is sucking milk, bacteria can directly invade the mammary ducts, ascend to the lobules and cause infection. The peak period of mastitis is within one month after delivery, and acute mastitis mostly occurs in primiparas who lack breastfeeding experience. The first month after delivery is the peak period for acute mastitis. After 6 months, babies begin to grow teeth, and the nipples are easily damaged at this stage, so care should be taken to prevent it. During the weaning period, you should be more vigilant about the occurrence of acute mastitis.

If a woman suffers from mastitis, it will not affect breastfeeding if it is mild. If there is no sign of improvement or it becomes increasingly serious, it is recommended to wean the baby immediately to avoid inflammation affecting the quality of milk and the health of the baby. The onset of mastitis is related to the cleanliness of women after childbirth, so you should usually keep your breasts clean and pay attention to your dietary care.
