What is the difference between salpingography and hysterosalpingography?

Hysterosalpingography and hydrosalpingography are two methods to detect whether our fallopian tubes are normal. Hysterosalpingography can determine whether there is inflammation in our own fallopian tubes through x-rays in the fallopian tubes. Hydrosalpingography can also help us check our physical health. Let's get familiar with the difference between salpingography and hydrosalpingography.

Hysterosalpingography

Hysterosalpingography is a method of examination in which contrast agents are injected into the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes via a catheter, and X-ray fluoroscopy and radiography are performed using an X-ray diagnostic apparatus. The patency of the fallopian tubes, the location of obstruction, and the morphology of the uterine cavity are determined based on the appearance of the contrast agents in the fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity. This examination is less invasive and, under the operation of an experienced doctor and with the use of a digital X-ray machine, can make a correct diagnosis of fallopian tube obstruction with an accuracy rate of 98%. It also has a certain therapeutic effect. Hysterosalpingography can not only clearly show the patency of the fallopian tube throughout, but can also very clearly show the location and nature of the fallopian tube obstruction, playing a definitive role in guiding the treatment of fallopian tube diseases. It can not only confirm the location of fallopian tube obstruction, but also determine the nature of the fallopian tube obstruction and whether the size and shape of the uterus are deformed. It is the preferred examination method for checking whether the fallopian tubes are unobstructed.

Fallopian tube insufflation

Fallopian tube hydrotubation, also known as tubal hydrotubation, is one of the rough examination methods for the patency of the fallopian tube. Hydrotubation is a method of injecting methylene blue solution or normal saline into the uterine cavity from the cervix, which then flows into the fallopian tube. The resistance during injection and the reflux of the liquid are used to determine whether the fallopian tube is unobstructed. Hydrotubation can roughly estimate whether the fallopian tubes are blocked, but it cannot be used as the final decision.

Only by understanding the difference between salpingography and hydrosalpingography can we choose the method that suits us best. Female friends should always pay attention to the health of their fallopian tubes. The incidence of gynecological diseases among female friends is very high. They must maintain good vaginal hygiene and develop good living habits on a daily basis.
