What to do if a woman has low blood sugar

Some women experience hypoglycemia, which may be short-lived or last for a long time. Female friends may experience fasting hypoglycemia, which is mainly because the body secretes too much insulin. For example, this symptom may occur after suffering from insulinoma. Excessive insulin injections or sudden large amounts of alcohol can also lead to low blood sugar. Let’s take a look at what women should do if they have low blood sugar.

Many women will experience hypoglycemia, which can cause symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, stars in the eyes, tremors, hunger, weakness, numbness in the hands and feet, slurred speech, irritability, personality changes, disorientation, epileptic seizures, coma, etc. Generally, this type of hypoglycemia occurs in young and middle-aged women. They do not look thin or malnourished, but this group of people is prone to functional hypoglycemia. Few people think that this is a symptom of hypoglycemia. As a result, it has harmed people's health without knowing it. Severe hypoglycemia can cause shock, so attention needs to be paid.

Patients with functional hypoglycemia should pay special attention to the dietary principle of "low-sugar, high-fat, high-protein diet, small meals and frequent meals": eat 5-6 meals a day. Eating a small amount of snacks and desserts before bed can help reduce the occurrence of hypoglycemia. The staple food per meal should not exceed 75 grams, including pasta and cereals. Each meal should have an even distribution of staple foods and be supplemented with foods containing protein and fat. Protein intake should be 100-150 grams per day. Protein can stimulate insulin secretion and has a slow effect, so it helps prevent hypoglycemia. 100 to 150 grams of protein can be given daily.

Women should not think that low blood sugar is a minor problem, because low blood sugar in women can also lead to some serious diseases. Severe low blood sugar may lead to heart failure, liver failure, or kidney failure. If you often have hypoglycemia, you must go to the hospital for a detailed examination, and pay attention to your diet, appropriately increase the intake of sugary foods, and do not eat too light.
