What to do if a pregnant woman has blocked breasts

If a mother experiences milk duct blockage during breastfeeding, it will generally lead to less or no milk supply, and will also be accompanied by breast swelling and pain. The condition of breast blockage can be alleviated and improved through some methods, and it is not necessary to go to the hospital to get relief. Breast blockage is mainly caused by blood circulation problems. Solving the blood circulation problem will solve the breast blockage. Now, let’s take a look at how to solve it!

In order to prevent or reduce breast swelling during lactation, it is recommended to do some breast care, and this care should start on the second day after delivery. The specific process can be carried out according to the following process.

1. Preparation: a large towel, two small towels, two pieces of clean gauze, a piece of soap, talcum powder, a bottle of glycerin, hot water and a clean bra.

After everything is ready, close the doors and windows, wash your hands first, fill the basin with hot water (temperature at 41-43 degrees), and put in a towel. Then sit down, take off your shirt, and cover your chest with a large towel.

2. Clean the breasts: Expose the right side of the chest, soak a small towel in water, apply soap, and scrub the breast in a clockwise direction, gradually scrubbing the entire breast from the nipple to the root. Be careful to be gentle. Then use a clean, damp towel to wipe off the soap and dry the breasts with a large towel. Then scrub the left breast in the same way.

3. Hot compress on breasts: Replace the basin with clean hot water, the water temperature should be 50-60 degrees, and the water temperature can be increased or decreased according to the temperature.

Expose your breasts and cover them with a large towel 2-3 inches below the breasts. Cover both breasts with a warm towel and keep the water warm. It is best to use two towels alternately, changing the hot towel every 1-2 minutes, and do this for 8-10 minutes. Pay attention to your skin's reaction to avoid burns, then dry it with a towel and cover it with a large towel.

The above methods are all tips to promote chest blood circulation. As long as the problem of breast blood circulation is solved, the problem of breast blockage will be solved. You still need to breastfeed during the period of blocked milk ducts. Because breastfeeding can help solve the problem of milk duct blockage, if you don't breastfeed, the situation will continue to worsen and will not be relieved.
