Can women get prostatitis?

We often hear about prostate inflammation in men, but some women feel confused. Can women get prostatitis? In fact, the body structures of men and women are different, so the types of diseases are also different. Women do not have a prostate in their body structure, so women will not be infected with prostatitis if they spontaneously ejaculate. So can prostatitis be transmitted to women?

Clinically, the vast majority of chronic prostatitis cannot be diagnosed with pathogenic bacteria, that is, it is non-bacterial prostatitis. This type of chronic inflammation will not be transmitted to women. Even if bacterial infection is detected, it is non-specific bacterial prostatitis. Since the female vagina has a strong ability to resist foreign bacterial infection, there is no need to worry about the wife being infected.

Regarding the question of whether prostatitis can be transmitted to women and cause harm, many experts point out that this cannot be generalized, because there are many types of prostatitis, and the infectiousness of different types of prostatitis is also different. Most cases of prostatitis are not contagious, but it cannot be ruled out that some patients may transmit the disease to women through sexual intercourse and cause gynecological inflammation in the other party.

Experts said that with the advancement of research, clinical findings have shown that the previous view that prostatitis is an infectious inflammation is incomplete. There are many types of prostatitis, of which only a small part is caused by bacterial infection alone, so most are non-infectious. Experts point out that there are currently four generally recognized types of prostatitis: acute bacterial prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, chronic non-infectious prostatitis and prostatitis. Among them, non-bacterial prostatitis will not be transmitted to the female.

In addition, in the case of nonspecific bacterial prostatitis, since the woman's vagina has a stronger ability to resist foreign bacterial infection, there is no need to worry about the other party being infected.

Although women do not have a prostate, if a man has an inflamed prostate and has sexual intercourse with a woman, the woman may be infected with the disease. Therefore, when you find that you have prostatitis, you should go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. The main symptoms of male prostatitis are urinary urgency, frequent urination, incomplete urination, etc. If these phenomena occur, you should pay attention.
