Can mothers do yoga while breastfeeding?

Pregnant women are a very vulnerable group of people, but they have to stay in confinement after giving birth, which may leave sequelae if they are not careful. What can we do and what can't we do during the confinement period? This is very particular. If you do not pay attention to your body at this time, many problems will arise. Next, let me tell you whether breastfeeding mothers can do yoga?

The lactation period refers to the period after childbirth when a mother feeds her baby with her own breast milk, which is the period from the beginning of breastfeeding to the cessation of breastfeeding, usually lasting about 10 months to 1 year. Article 9 of the Provisions on Labor Protection for Female Employees stipulates that for female employees who have infants under one year old, their employer should provide them with two breastfeeding (including artificial feeding) periods of thirty minutes each during each working shift. For multiple births, the breastfeeding time should be increased by 30 minutes for each additional baby. The two breastfeeding breaks during each working shift of female employees can be combined. Breastfeeding time and the time spent traveling to and from breastfeeding within the unit are counted as working time.

You can selectively practice some simple targeted movements, such as natural breathing, then sun salutation followed by upper dog and then downward dog, triangle pose, rotated triangle, vertical pose, bow pose, then boat pose and then natural relaxation of yoga. These movements are relatively simple yet holistic, and are very suitable for breastfeeding. But I personally think that if you want to slim down your waist and abdomen, the best way is to practice Pilates.

For the sake of her own and her baby's health, mothers should avoid consuming certain foods that may affect milk secretion or having some personal special hobbies during breastfeeding, so as not to destroy the good feeding effect.

1. Foods that inhibit milk secretion: such as leeks, malt, ginseng and other foods.

2. Irritating things: The diet after childbirth should be light. Do not eat irritating things, including spicy seasonings, peppers, alcohol, coffee and cigarettes.

① Alcohol: Generally speaking, a small amount of alcohol can promote milk secretion and has no effect on the baby; if it is excessive, it will inhibit milk secretion and affect uterine contraction, so you should drink less or not drink it.

②Coffee: It can excite the human central nervous system. One cup of 150 ml coffee contains 100 ml of caffeine. It is best for normal people not to drink more than 3 cups a day. Although there is no evidence that it is harmful to infants, breastfeeding mothers should drink it in moderation or stop drinking it.

Breastfeeding women not only have to pay attention to what they do in terms of exercise, but they also have to pay attention to what they eat. Whether there are breastfeeding women at home or among your relatives, you must tell them that they should respond in a scientific way and take good care of their bodies so that they can be healthy in the future and avoid unnecessary sequelae.
