Is postpartum bleeding normal?

Postpartum bleeding during sexual intercourse is not a normal phenomenon. Even if a healthy woman bleeds during sexual intercourse, it should be taken seriously. There are many reasons for bleeding during sexual intercourse, such as endometriosis, cervical cancer, or cervical polyps, which can all lead to bleeding during sexual intercourse. In addition, bleeding can also occur if there is inflammation in the female reproductive tract that has not subsided or if there is damage that has not been repaired.

The following are some common causes of bleeding during postpartum sex in women.

Cervical dysplasia: Cervical dysplasia is a sign of cervical epithelial cell cancer. Having multiple sexual partners, having intercourse before age 18, becoming pregnant before age 16, or having a history of sexually transmitted diseases can increase the likelihood of abnormal cervical development. It is usually treated by performing a cold surgery.

Chlamydia: A viral infection that is usually transmitted sexually, with sperm, vaginal fluids, or blood.

Gonorrhea: A sexually transmitted disease caused by a virus. This disease can be cured by many medications.

Vaginitis: This may be an inflammation of the vagina. Inflammation may also be caused by a tumor or viral infection. Treatment depends on the cause.

Trichomoniasis: A sexually transmitted disease usually caused by protozoa that can also be transmitted from an infected mother to her newborn during childbirth. Sometimes, the virus is transmitted from tap water, urine, toilet seats, and swimming pools. This disease can cause vaginitis.

Vaginal yeast infection: An overgrowth of fungi in the vagina. Symptoms usually include: vaginal itching, pain, bad odor, abnormal leucorrhea, etc.

In fact, there are many reasons for postpartum bleeding in women, such as endometritis due to childbirth, and endometrial polyps after childbirth, which can all lead to bleeding. It is recommended that women who experience bleeding during postpartum sexual intercourse go to the hospital for a detailed physical examination in time to help discover the cause of the bleeding early, so as to avoid worsening of the condition and receive effective treatment.
