Can I do sit-ups after confinement and what are the precautions?

We all know that mothers will stay in confinement for a month after giving birth. During this period, they must take good care of their bodies to help them recover their health faster. However, after the confinement period, many mothers' bodies are very weak and they need our special attention and relevant care. Let us now understand whether we can do sit-ups after the confinement period and what precautions we can take.

It is generally believed that the physiological recovery period after childbirth takes about 42 days, which is often referred to as the "confinement" stage. This period is medically called the puerperium. During the postpartum period, except for the breasts which remain relatively plump, other reproductive organs basically return to a normal pregnancy state. In the early stages of the confinement period, the main focus should generally be on recuperation and rest.

However, we cannot think that "confinement" means just eating, sleeping, and feeding the baby, while ignoring exercise. Because early exercise is very beneficial for the discharge of lochia, uterine recovery and prevention of embolism. Therefore, you should start doing maternal exercises 24 hours after delivery, including leg lifting exercises, sit-ups, anal contractions, etc., to promote the body's recovery.

But remember, strenuous exercise to lose weight immediately after delivery may slow down the recovery of the uterus and cause bleeding. In severe cases, it may cause further damage to the surgical section or episiotomy during delivery.

One week after delivery, new mothers who return home can try to do some light housework and insist on taking a walk after meals. These activities can regulate the body's metabolism, promote the decomposition of body fat, and consume excess energy.

One month after delivery, if the body recovers quickly, the new mother can start doing some sit-ups and leg lifts in bed to exercise the abdominal and psoas muscles, and also to reduce fat in the abdomen and buttocks. In addition, you should arrange 1-2 times of exercise every day. It can be reasonably adjusted according to your own conditions. For example: doing radio gymnastics, jogging, skipping rope, swimming, dancing and other activities.

You can also achieve the purpose of exercise through daily activities such as mopping the floor, vacuuming, and cleaning. Because, in the process of mopping the floor and cleaning, your hands need to push and pull back and forth, your body needs to lean forward, and your feet need to push the ground hard to maintain your body's balance, thereby increasing exercise, consuming energy, and reducing fat accumulation.

We must wait until the mothers' bodies have fully recovered before doing some sit-ups to avoid causing unnecessary harm to our bodies. Mothers can pay special attention to whether they can do sit-ups after confinement and the precautions, which can help us recover normal physical health faster and better.
